What could have been...

Now that panthers have been shown up by the raiders just thought i'd put it out there sadly that we could have been sitting alot happier on 2nd, but instead we are 5th with a terrible f/a, with a loss against the panthers seeing us possibly dropping out of the top 8 :frowning:

sorry if this is all been said but ive only just come on the forum after the disappointing loss to the rabbits.

not really much more to say, just feeling really frustrated.

We wont drop out of the eight next week if worse comes to worst….still very tight, lots of top 8 teams playing each other over the final rounds

Seriously …

That makes this loss twice as hard to stomach.

What's worse is the draw next week doesnt favour us AT ALL.

Here's the current ladder
1\. St George - 32
2\. Penrith - 28
3\. Roosters - 28
4\. Titans - 28
5\. Tigers - 28
6\. Manly - 26
7\. Broncos - 26
8\. Warriors - 26

Next week:
Broncos V Parra .. broncos should win easy
Sharks V Roosters .. roosters should win easy
Titans V Cowboys .. titans should win easy
Warriors V Knights .. warriors should win easy

Only game that mildly favours us is St George V Manly

on a side note, lol at channel 9 for thinking broncos v eels and sharks v roosters would be better viewing than dragons v manly

I think Canberra did Wests a favour tonight. Anyone who attended the Members day could see howe badly the players were hurting and how keen they are to atone the dismal effort against Souths. The Tigers know that a loss will see them lose touch with the Top 4 and can ill afford to forgo another 2 points. Now, back to the Raiders. A Penrith victory tonight gives them confidence and momentum leading into Sundays clash with Wests. The Panthers form of late would suggest they struggle to mantain the intesnity in the second 40\. And struggled to get back into the winners circle after their defeats this season. Wests (apart from Saturday Night) are a known as a second half team.

If the brittle defence is replaced with desperation and intent this week and the Tigers can stay with Penrith in the First Half, call me an optimist, but I believe Wests can win and win well. Farah has to run more from the ruck. Canberra's ability to get the Panthers on the back foot this evening came on the back off quick play-the-balls and good, strong dummy half running. Let's see it and plenty of it. Penrith's big boppa's struggle to contain and shut down speed. Marshall and out outside backs should really come into their own in this one. This could be make or break for Wests in my opinion.

Even the one point from the draw would have had us sitting alone in second place.

Good post, Gobbs. I agree that we can do it from here. Go you mighty tigers.

The Tigers also said they felt empty after the Cronulla win and said they'd put in a better performance against Souths. Do they seriously want to be a competition heavy weight? We have the ability to be but it's looking like they were content with being the worst performing team for the last 5 years.

A week is a very long time in Rugby League. Just ask Wayne Bennett and St.George-Illawarra. Wests must win this one. It's as simple as that.

Who are the people who dont realise that 14 players did put in a fantastic effort and played well against souths just horrible play by Ryan, Lote and to a lesser extent Lui were the reason we lostand more to the point that we didnt win by 20\. Lote cost us 2 tries and Ryan cost us 2 tries and Lui at least 1

I unfortunately didn't see the rabbitohs game, just the highlights.
Before Beau's injury he was going well on the wing!
And when Moltzy got injured, he did well in fullback too.
I am hoping Lote is playing slightly injured and same as beau. Because they have both been bad the past 2 weeks
I reckon we can win against the panthers if we have the right attitude!
As for the rest of this rounds games, there is no such thing as 'should win easily'
the past couple of weeks for us is proof of that!

Talk about foot in mouth. He was just quoting Ryan from the Footy Show and it's spelt HEIGHINGTON.

Actually our current postion on the table,a very vulnerable 5th,is flattering based on our performances over the entire season.
Unless something dramatic changes against Penrith, were going to be clinging to 8th at the end of the next round…& it gets no easier from there..
Our vulnerabilities (& they are many)are well chronicled on this forum & others, but whether mastercoach & the players can magically turn it around is a giant questionmark

We got belted by the Souths 50-6 and it ruined our for and against but then we belted Warriors to make it closer ..At the end of the day we still are in minus .. I cant see us improving our points diff from here on as there are no easy game.. We could have improved it against Sharks and Cowboys but they didnt give us the chance.
