What do we do with Lawrence...

We can't afford to get rid of him with his contract being so back loaded. Just put up with him for next year and the make a massive play for Foloau after he figures out you have to be ab All Black to win a RU work cup at the end of 2015\. Hopefully by then we will have some stability in the board…......

For example Sando spent an extended period in NSW cup, why is CL different? ;(
Parra paid him probably even more than we pay CL.
He did not play for last few years any game that would justify money we pay him.
If we could afford Koroibate and Naiyarovaro go, we can certainly let CL find his form in
NSW cup if he wants to stay with WT,
Re: in defanse CL is not better than Koro, his lateral movement is much worse, while his reading of the game is equally bad.
Koro on the other hand consistently makes more hit ups per game and runs more meters per hit up.

I hope he announces his retirement this week and we can farewell him with some dignity at LO against the Sharks. He seems an intelligent sort of guy, so SURELY he must realise he is nowhere near his best and the chances of getting back to it are ZILCH.

His hands and reads in defense have been poor this season. His confidence is most likely shot. He won't retire or move on himself so here's hoping he can gain some confidence in the off-season.

Maybe Lawrence can be used as a $400k tackling bag or witch's hat in 2015.

Look guys I think we all need to cool down a little.

I am heartily disappointed with how our season has gone from bad to worse, but all the players at the moment would be at their worst too.
They must be feeling the impact of all that has been going on at the club and all around the place, and not being able to win a match, and everyone is down on them. :blah

I don't know the answers but I hope that someone finds a way to sort things out soon.
There has been speculation (on this forum) that the coach needs to go, the captain needs to go, and the CEO needs to go, well maybe some of this is true, but speculation only leads to further disappointment. Lets see what happens over the next few weeks, we shouldn't give up on our club just yet :sign:

I've actually thought for most of the year, at the end of his contract with us, he would benefit by going to a team like the bunnies. With class S & C facilities he my get his lateral movement back, and with proper conditioning finally get over his injuries (hammies etc). He would at the least give himself a chance of being a footballer again. It also could show he may not be to totally blame.

In the short term he will be here next year and in the team each week. Deep down we all know it.

I am past worrying about what he costs us and keeping him in 1st grade because of that. Play him off the bench as a back-rower or in reserve grade as a whatever.

He can no longer do the basic plays of a half decent centre, including the lines he runs. About the only thing worthy about his game at present are some runs into the ruck defence and some defensive hits.

Furthermore, regarding Lawrence's contract, wasn't he re-signed on a 4 year, $1.6 million deal?

His salary per year could be something like:
Year 1 - 300k
Year 2 - 350k
Year 3 - 425k
Year 4 - 525k
Its not clear how much of his deal was backended, but the last year is usually where the big bikkies are.

Five year 1.9 million MU

Averaged out at 380 k a year it was reported

Well said mate.

If we dropped him to the lower grades he'd soon get the message and retire.
