We played some of the best football last night for 25 to 30 min then turned of and went back to running one out for the rest of the game. But what worrys me is the coach did not change how we played in the second 1/2\. When we throw the ball around we ran souths of there feet, if this is how potter coachs then he needs to go.

Yeah! We played well so we should sack Potter!

In all seriousness, the boys played with some heart tonight. Even Benji's found his running game again (conveniently as he's just about to leave). What more do you want?

Souths are the second best side in the comp, and they know how to beat teams like us.

The boys just ran out of petrol. That's all there is to it.

I noticed that in the second half. Farah would run across and turn the ball runner straight into the markers. That's a play I've never fully understood, even more so considering we had souths out on their feet towards half time.

Are u for real or what, yes we played well for nearly 0ne 1/2 of football, what happened to the rest , thats where a coach has to send word out to get back to running the football not to bash ur head against a brick wall. you say they ran out of petrol does that not say they arent fit enought, if we had run them around more would souths not have floded.and what i want is a coach who changes with the way game change not to let the rot continue when it sets in thats what a good coach does.

A coach will study who they're playing and structure a game plan around it to take advantage of the other teams weaknesses. That would be concentrated on all week up until the game. If you go and change it during the game you can just send things into turmoil and make the game a disaster.

We continued to turn them around early with our kicks and had them pinned on more than one occasion. We had some good sets and territory in the 2nd half and just couldn't capitalise. Then the bunnies were often helped down the field with penalties.

The refs wore us out by continually gifting the 'dunnies' plenty of dubious penalties while allowing them to lay all over us.
Maybe a seasoned team could have still held them out but most of the guys are still young.
The biggest turning point was Anasta missing the field goal that would have taken us to 19-6 at halftime.
It allowed the 'dunnies' to score a pretty lucky try and get back into the game.
After that the refs made sure we would struggle to hang on.

What happened??? Maybe getting 1 penalty after the sinbin in the whole game and 'conceding' about 7-8!?!?

Cant win a game against any team with no ball, let alone a top 2 side like the souths. Any team has to be on top of their game, given a fair chance by the refs and give it their all to have a chance of beating them. Out of those 3 points, we had 1 definitely, we were probably not on top of our game but we were decent and obviously weren't given a fair chance by the refs.

The margin needed to be about 24 points and yes, the second half was full of 'make up' penalties. Souths were always going to come out firing in the second half, especially with the Minor Premiership at stake.

Sounds cliche, but it's hard to really fault the team after that effort last night. Some of the kids for Wests stepped up immensely. Just not quite there, yet.

I think anyone not happy with last night needs to understand where the club is right now. For 30 mins last night we were great. Face it though, we scored 18 points whilst Souths had Burgess off. One of those tries was a freak circumstance and only one try came from a well worked move. Once Souths got Burgess back on, the defence tightened and so did our chances.

We were far from poor last night though. The effort was great. We got smashed by Perenara for 80 mins and generally held our own. Rewind back to the last meeting and look at how far the young guys have come. I was disappointed to lose but proud of our effort.

Couldn't agree more Pete ….. The effort was certainly there and you have to be proud of the boys the way they played.

x2 Given that many had us written off for a major hiding I reckon it was a good effort, especially against the squirrelohs.

the game started to turn with benji's short kicking game at the end of the first half .

1 went over the sideline on the full and 2 more went straight out the backdoor

we took our foot off their throat and we paid the price .

hopefully this won't be the case next year with luke brooks having a great short kicking game .
