What has everyone been up to?

Re HSC
A mate of mine quit school in 4th form and got a job as a grunt digging holes for exploration geologists. Gained experience and in his 30s and 40s went through Uni, completed a PhD and is now a senior soil scientist. He never sat the HSC.

My daughter is mid way through her HSC, so it has been a little stressful around home, but she will do fine, she already has early entry into uni for a double degree.

The HSC is so stressful haha, could imagine. Thats awesome, which uni did she get into? I also got early entry, may be the same one.

CSU mate, so I doubt that you would be coming out this way.

Oh wow that is far, nah different uni haha. Congratulations to your daughter though, that is hell of a stress relief.

Good luck with yours mate, my daughter finishes hers with 2 exams tomorrow.

The HSC is stressful if you let the people around you con you into thinking its the be all and end all.

Couldn't agree more. I received a fairly average result from the HSC – ended up doing my own thing for a few years, went to TAFE, ended up at uni later on and will be handing in my PhD thesis _tomorrow_! There are many, many paths that don't require top results out of high school.

Cool. Good luck with it. I just submitted my MBA dissertation yesterday. 44,000 words. It took 5 months out of my life. I'd say it's halfway between a masterpiece and a catastrophe.

I went to 30 countries this year too so I wrote most of it in airport lounges while managing to hold down a full time job and now launching a startup. Had a baby a few months ago so I've aged about 20 years in 12 months.

Looking forward to a cruisier 2017 but you never know what life will throw at you.

Can't believe the Year 12's up here basically are on there last day tomorrow

What does it take them three weeks to get ready for their formals these days ??

What is the difference between HSC and IB

IB is international where as HSC is just in NSW but the mark you receive (ATAR) is domestic.

Basically an international country wouldn't accept if you applied with an ATAR whereas you could use an IB wherever you wanted.

I would love to undertake the IB just to see which is harder haha

Business is her best subject, she came first in the school, it is also one of the double degrees she has been accepted for, the other degree being communications and public relations.
And it will be all over before you know it, good luck mate.
