What I think Anasta should do in 2013

Simply to help Jacob Miller notice things and take over from him from time to time to relieve the pressure on the kid. Like for instance on a last tackle play and Miller is standing over there and Anasta sees an opportunity over here Anasta has the overcall. If Anasta is happy with what Miller has planned on the last tackle then let Miller do it. Don't let Marshall or Farah take the last play option unless it's Farah with an attacking kick close to the line or going for a quick fire 40/20 or Marshall with the wide rolling grubber from about 40 out. This way we either get Miller doing something that an experienced head agrees with or the experienced head does something that teaches the young fella what he should be doing. Miller develops and the Tigers improve last tackle options because of it.

So I think the option should go -

Last play is run. Blair gets back slammed, whatever it is.
Anasta - "Is Milky doing the right thing here? Yes, okay I call Milky to Farah. Is he not? I overcall because I see something better on."
Farah - "Is the kick on, no? Are we in position for Benji's retard kick? No? Do what Braith says."

Then Miller runs the play. If that involves Marshall and Anasta then good, but Miller calls the damn play. The only person that should be overcalling Miller is Anasta imo because he will be smarter about it. Marshall and Farah will overcall him too much and Anasta has huge wraps on Miller and is actually emotionally invested in his development, you can tell by the way he spoke about him during twenties matches last year and he's on record as having been gutted that the Roosters lost Miller years ago. He rates him and will treat him with due respect and having analysed NYC matches last year will understand Miller's capacities better.

You might think I am overrating Anasta a bit but this actually plays to his strength. Which are decision making and experience. Other than that he should just be running wide lines and using his deft hands to trouble edge defenders.

It might be madness to not let Benji have overcall on the last but if Miller thinks that throwing it to Benji is the right play anyway then let him do it. If Anasta's overcall is to throw it to Benji then do it. Just let Anasta be the last word on the last play. Maybe I'm over complicating things but I really think the roles should be clearly defined.

Farah uses the forwards and his own running game to march us upfield (which he is very good at and if he didn't spend so much time play making out in the halves we'd probably win the field position game a lot more). This way Farah is going to naturally link with other players when he sees openings, cool, give him that role during the tackle count.

Marshall looks for opportunities to run the ball during the first five and is the go to on the last if we have a passing play on.

Anasta is an edge running backrower who acts as a surrogate playmaker.

Miller runs the last tackle plays and if Farah sees a backline move on during the first five, Miller runs that too.

I dunno I started to ramble a lot didn't I. Forget me.

You may be tired but that sounds pretty good. Best from Anasta, builds miller, farah still had options and benji can just play. As benji gets his mojo back the ball will go his way anyway. Also has opposition in 4 minds, possibly holes everywhere for benji

Miller is the half , he runs the forwards

Miller will tell Farah where he wants to be by the end of the six

I imagine at some stage they will feed Anasta and he will look for an inside runner or an angled runner If something is on he will have the call to go with the play or he will see something as it unfolds

Anasta won't be used as a running forward unless he is the angled runner , inside runner (from set plays )or possibly the decoy

I'm also hoping to see Anasta ball play before the line as well (much like the Dogs did in 2012 )

Its not his game or nor should it be to be trying to make 120 + metres as a hard running back rower

Miller biggest challenge (as was Lui's) is overruling Marshall and Farah and taking charge

I think Anasta should focus on playing like an actual backrower, He should take the kicking when we are not up close to our line. I think Benji should be taking Most of the lasts when we are near our try line.

Well if we play him like a typical backrower he is going to get pummelled and at his age that is madness and just going to get him carrying niggly injuries week in week out

We have to use him in a similiar way Wests used to use Langmack

Correcto , you will just be burning Anasta out and weaken his line of defence , His wise enough been around the traps long enough ,and he will know when to take control of the game something Benji seems not quite comftable in doing….

When the bounce of the ball goes bad, we lose possession, and our heads go down, like we do, be a leader and a cool head. Anasta is a feisty competitor, and knows when to stand up. Lets hope he brings the necessary calm to our vibrant team
