What is a successful 2026 for the Tiger's

I didn’t like AD when he was our fullback or centre.
In the halves though, he has lived up to his promise and is improving.
I think he was in our top 3 last year and is our best again this year.
He may not be a typical halfback and is still too much of a hog, but by the Jesus if he wasn’t in our side these past 2 years, we would have half a dozen more games with an L next to them at a minimum.
He’s a big body for a half. If he keeps his spot he will open up his outside options purely because teams defence will focus more on him. If passes more he will be in the top dally m this year.
My biggest knock on him is his initial lack of effort to turn and chase if the line is broken. This is the reason I don’t think he will ever should be selected to play origin

Success for any club = finals, at the very least.

But for us, what would show incremental improvement, and is a challenge that is achievable? IMO 9th - 11th.
Finals would be a vast improvement and a wildly successful season.

The way the games.played at the moment most teams will get a number done on them.
Half.a.dozen.or.so.now conceding 50...
Ive no doubt we'll bounce back when troops are back...hope todays injuries arent long term

I reckon they will rein in the way the game is reffed after origin...maybe back to a more traditional style ...less 6 to goes and less huge momentum swings

They actually reffed like that in the first half I feel

who cares just a stat that will get broken eventually.
we can still make top 4 if we get kpp, Api, Sam F, Bula all back we can go on a run.

Top four? No way.

I think it's reasonable to suggest a top ten finish would be a successful year for the Tigers and making the eight would be more then successful.

Maybe that traditional style doesn’t suit us, when have we ever won the ruck?

Maybe we need the fast paced game like the start of this season

They will need to win 8 out of 16 to make the 8 … it’s achievable from what we saw of the team that has played this season up until yesterday …..

They are going to need to hang on this next month or so until they can hopefully get some of their first choice spine back…

We have a much depth now as most clubs. If you take the starting fullback, hooker, halfback and second rower out of most teams they will struggle. It was the errors that caused the blowout though. No excuse for that.

Their forwards were poor .. I dont think it would have mattered much who was playing in the spine … as their forwards weren’t up to it either side of the ball, and had too many errors

I put it more down to the lack of intensity … but it’s the first time we have seen that all year - every team .. even Penrith has had a game like that so far…

They need to bounce back and at least compete in Melbourne - a place where they haven’t shown up for years ..

I think 6 agains feel so less consequential to refs compared to what penalties eventually became. You don't have the stop the game, so its just inherently easier for refs to actually enforce the rules without feeling like they are ruining the product.

If these rules normalise, it can only be a good thing. You can already see a lot of teams adapting, footy is footy again. Centres get early ball. Forwards need skill.

One thing I would consider as a rule change one day would be 5 tackle sets. With, 6 tackle sets only given for penalties. Or vice versa.

We did great against Canberra. That was such an important game. We are missing a fair bit of talent now. I don't expect us to beat Melbourne. But the challenge is on to not have too long a losing streak with quite a few players out. -- It's good to have some signings settled and sorted when some people were injured and out of form anyway.

But a big losing streak will compound pressure on our club and our juniors in a way unlike any other team:

Already the Telegraph is pushing the “it’s Galvin all over again angle”….which is total BS …

Still … whilst they are battling with these injuries and Api’s suspension over the next 5 weeks , they play Storm away, Manly in Brisbane , Dogs and Penrith …

Which games are they winning there ? Maybe the Dogs 🤞

Injuries have exposed our threadbare depth in critical position, especially fullback and hooker.

Attard and Brookes are too green for firsts. Herbert is the safest choice in Bula's absence, which isn't saying much.

Hope is a solid NSW Cup player, nothing more. He shouldn't be anywhere near first grade selection. Lanyon and Haywood are both more talented but neither could play more than 40 mins. Latu Fainu, with Lanyon or Haywood on the bench, is our best option, as dire as that is.
