What is acceptable?

3rd last year.

Last year was good, especially how we came back from that embarrasing loss against Souths at the SCG but we should be making the finals more often. The strong NRL clubs do it consistantly.

3 years could be too long a time frame however I fail to see who would be a better option.

We have had some shockers as coaches - Terry Lamb is probably the worst coach of all time. I do not want to go down a path like that ever again.

Admittedly Sheens has troubles at times picking the best team and he is loyal to under-performers **however he does eventually get rid of players that are past it or he has made a mistake with. His biggest mistake has been Johnny Morris and that was a huge mistake** but apart from that he has been a real good coach.

It took him 3 years and having Morris in the halves was one of the biggest reasons why we didn't make the finals between 2007-2009.

I just couldn't stand going to games and watching our team play grinding boring football….even if it meant winning more games...

I could if it meant winning more games.

Yeah we could. The main thing that worries me is the team selections. They are ok when we are at full strength but once we get some injuries it is sheensanigans!

For Tim Sheens to be considered a successful coach of the Wests Tigers and be deemed as worth a 12 year term in office I believe he needs to deliver the Tigers another **two** premierships.

Do I believe it will happen?? Unfortunately no!

But as merely a supporter I played no part in the decision and all I wish is for Tim Sheens to prove me wrong!!

Yes he does make some strange decisions but not many from last year with maybe ryan been the only one….. but there must be a reason for it as the guys no fool.

It may be a financial decision why he doesnt give some players a chance from the nsw cup teams.... im not exactly sure the in and outs of the salary cap.

And with putting players out of position which is debatable well who the hell knows i dont worry about it.

Heh they only human strenghths and weaknesses

Up until 2014, I deem the following acceptable

At least 3 top 8 finishes (bare minimum)
At least 2 top 4 finishes
At least 2 preliminary final appearances
At least 1 grand final appearance

We have the squad to do it, we saw that last season, we have the funds to be competitive on the player market (thanks Harry), absolutely no excuses to flounder around the lower mid table for 4 seasons.

When u mention a "12 year term" it puts it into perspective doesnt it. Id take one more premiership, but your probably right, 3 would make him more worthy of such a term. However, the thread starter did ask to not take the past into account, just whats acceptable for Sheens' next term.

Top 8 each year, as getting to the 8 is a tough ask - taking the variables into account. I remember giving the Dragons the minor premiership in 09 after flogging the Dogs. Reporters questioning Sheens "what could have been with the 5 narrow losses" Sheens reply Quote "We would be knocked out next week as 7 players took the field tonight with pain killing injections"

Oh, i don't know…admitting mistakes / putting up his hand for selection blunders? :astonished:
But for me, if he can take a leaf out of Sir Alex's book, we'll be right..

I'd like to Sheens lift the team performance so we are considered in the same light as St George ie consistently strong winners resulting in top 4 finishes for the next four years winning at least one premiership. He needs to ensure the team is playing at or near its best week in week out to develop confidence, self believe and the momentum that goes with success. A few top players need to be recruited to strengthen the talent we have.

We have the best playing roster in the NRL.

What do you really think the answer to this question should be?

The Fonz is the only coach with the ability to NOT get this team into the top 8\. He is very very good at not getting teams into the top 8.

So what do YOU reackon ??

I'm not sure that we do have the best playing roster to be honest

Me either.

We are not overly strong in positions FB, one wing, one centre, Half…and the forwards certainly havent been playing like they are the engine of the best roster in the comp...its a myth, and its also another thread.

Quit the hijacking Bug

I agree as well, we have a solid roster but certainly not one of the very best.

At the moment Id be happy with the semis every year.

Or if we have 2 good seasons where we go a long way in the finals, then maybe I can take one season of missing the 8.
