What is acceptable?

I'm not sure that we do have the best playing roster to be honest

Me either.

We are not overly strong in positions FB, one wing, one centre, Half…and the forwards certainly havent been playing like they are the engine of the best roster in the comp...its a myth, and its also another thread.

Quit the hijacking Bug

We have a good squad but it does have some holes.

If the forwards fire, and we sort out halfback and fullback and Robbie starts to play like he has the ability plus Benji continues to show that he is one of the top players in the game then we can win the comp. There are a lot of ifs in the statement and other teams can also win the comp.

I think a lot of posters don't realize that things like Lawrence and Tuqiri getting injured amongst other things can really affect how the team performs over the course of the year.

Who has a better roster than us ?

Teams are probably coachef better than us ie The Broncos , but who has a better roster??

It's an impoverished line of argument to make a rash statement, without some supporting facts or observations and then challenge people to prove you wrong. Why don't you invest a little time and explain how you could reach the conclusion that we have 'the best roster in the NRL'?

You don't need a slide rule or a level 3 to understand that we often don't provide space and time to our backs, courtesy of generally poor 'go forward' in the first three or four tackles of our sets. We have a couple of journeymen props, who, put simply, won't improve. St George have an assortment of good players in this area, as do Canterbury, Melbourne, Canberra and Easts. That in in itself forms the basis of a good 'roster' and as such those teams 'rosters' are better than ours.

The issue is more likely one of recruitment

I third that motion.

Potentially at full strength we have a squad up there competing with the Best playing roster…however

Manly, St George, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canterbury, Easts, North Queensland, hell even Cronulla Sharkies have more international and state of Origin players amongst their squads than do the Wests Tigers.....

In chief Playmakers we have Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah potentially the most leathal 9 and 6 in the game but their problem has always been consistency...at this level is that the Coach our up to the respective players to develop the consistency needed....

I await your retort...

 So do I Geo….. So do I!!!

We are supposed to have the best player in the world , the best second rower in the world , one of the best hookers , an Austalian centre and winger ( admittedly injured) plus a host of minor rep team players.
Not too bad a roster I would think.
Apart from their noted stars Melbourne have 3 front rowers nobody wanted killing it every week and teams like the Broncos trot out wins with young guys hardly anyone heard of a year ago.
Sheens should get us top 4 every year ( especially if we get Blair as well) or take a hike.

Last year was the first year he got his newly rebuilt side at full strength and he got us a top 4 position and was robbed from a poor refereeing decision from being in the grand final. He did as you suggested. Your problem is?

His problem is that this needs to happen every year with our roster, not once every five years.

Last year was the first year with our re-built side, he did a pretty good job. This year, injuries haven't helped thus far but the season has a long way to go. Most of our players will be back during the run home, let's see how we shape up then. If we're in touch with the top 8 and our injury worries are over, it should end up a pretty interesting semi final series.

I agree this year has a long way to go, but injuries or no injuries, if we don't make the 8 it will be a massive failure.

Our players are slowly coming back, and although its frustrating we have enough talent on the park to keep in touch with the leaders, and then hopefully make a late charge at the end of the season.

That statement is pretty hard to disagree with there HT. I think with the players we have at our disposal I think we should be doing better and really should make the 8\. Let's face it, players like Brown, Daniela and Al Schirnack are legitimate 1st grade caliber players. If they play anywhere else they're playing first grade.

Never count out a champion team, especially when they're down. This team has shown before in the past, when they grit their teeth they're capable of anything. The trick is, to get them to grit their teeth. That's what we need more than anything.
