What needs to change in 2011 to win the big one

I think the only thing that needs to change, and I'm confident it will after this year, is to put sides away.
We discovered how to win ugly in 2010\. In 2011, I'd like to see them get 12 in front and then really lift and hammer it home and go on with a strong win. I have total confidence that this will happen in 2011\. I think we are specials to take out the minor premiership, if injuries are kind to us.

I'd like to see the forwards coached to hit it up more effectively. I think WT lead in scoring tries from inside their own half which looks like an exciting stat because it shows we can score long distance tries, but it's not as impressive when you think perhaps we mostly score from our own half because that's usually where our sets end! Maybe this has become a vicious cycle?

While it's a great asset to be able to score like this, there's an underlying problem that bad options on the fifth see the team well and truly under the pump because the opposition usually begins their set in our half!

It is an exception rather than a rule that we see good quality metres gained from our forwards on consecutive hit-ups let alone an entire set. Having a hit-up from say Ryan, then Flanagan then a flat-footed Heighno not only gets us nowhere but the double whammy is if a big bopper does eventually get in the sequence they can tend to be cannon fodder because the defence has had ample opportunity to get nicely set.

If we can get consistenly get some of these bigger young fellas in the squad to run hard with good timing it would make a big difference - other teams don't have that much trouble doing it and now we have better size there should be no excuses.

All is needed is a couple that have a footy brain !!! this is as simple as it gets a couple that know what to do to put the sword in at the finish off games it's that simple!!!

resting players? moving players around? no no no…. we found it hard enough this year to get combinations going with all the injuries.... why add to that???? (hopefully we don't have this sort of bad luck next year with injuries)

the only things that need changing are

1) A better bench and use of it
2) To stop the panic attacks when injuries come around and bring players up from the lower grades to slot into positions they already play.
3) Some better 5th tackle options, a fair amount of times this year we weren't patient enough with our attack and either pushed the pass to the supporters sitting in the stands or produced a very poor kick.
4) Stop giving the opposition time with the ball, I am a little sick of the number of times we kick on the 3rd tackle when it's not necessary. We did it twice against the Saints, from memory, both times were in the space of several minutes when we were up 12-6 and then when it was 12 all, we kicked on the 2nd....
5) In so far as players are concerned, TnT, hopefully will be good to go on the wing for Ryan (Beau knows State Cup) or Brown on the wing with TnT on the bench with Moltzen. We've got Wade for 2 years, as long as his hamstring is good, he should be at fullback. Obviously if things don't go well for Lui, then Moltzen is the obvious choice for halfback.
6) Benji finished the year kicking well for goals....whatever he's doing now, to keep doing it and improve.
7) Make sure we have a back up goal kicker.....just in case.

- Luck with injuries.
- Fitness at the back end of games. Wests faded away in too many games at the back end of the year. Souths, Parramatta, Easts, Canberra just to name a few heart stoppers.
- 4 Forwards on the bench
- Mental resolve; possessing the hunger, desire and determination to go one better in 2011.

Replace Bo Diddley Ryan..Way too slow and lacks go forward.
Fitzy OFF the bench.Look around for a bench player that can cover half, hooker.
Thats about it.All looks well for 2011 in my eyes.

unlike the other major clubs we wont have many origin affected players so that should be a
bonus.

Mckinnon has to be fullback; provided that he bulks up a little bit. Brown has been playing well and i feel safe when theres a bomb put up, but with mckinnon i know that he will not only catch it, but look for attacking options immediately. Lui will start as half next year if he isnt sacked, and moltzen will be on the bench. Those two will be at eachothers throat all year for that spot and one bad game from lui and moltzen will be thrown in. As for Ryan, he will play wing next year until he really costs us then TNT (who will be getting M.E in reggies) will come in. Our forwards are fine IMO, although id like to see Fulton starting permanently and gibbs starting on the bench to come on in the 25th until the 70th or even fulltime as some massive impact. Ashyford is still young and should remain a centre, i believe he can be better than lawrence in time. Farah plays 80 minutes no questions asked ! He is the team dynamic and isn't a rookie that gets benched when he makes a mistake, that's like playing Gidley on the bench in origin except farah is better. About round 5-10 next year the team should look like this (no injuries)
1\. Mckinnon
2\. Tuqiri
3\. Ashyford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Tuiaki
6\. Marshall
7\. Lui/Moltzen
8\. Payten
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Fulton
12\. Ellis
13\. Heighington
14\. Fifita
15\. Dwyer
16\. Gibbs
17\. Moltzen/Brown

IMO.

It's no coincidence we've won every game with Moltzen at halfback. The guy's pure class, every time he has ball in hand he looks dangerous, with Marshall pairing up with him the halves, those two could form a lethal combination, even better than that of Lui and Marshall. I know Lui had a very solid season, but at this point in time, I would rate Moltzen as the better halfback. He could well prove to be the difference between a preliminary final and a grand final victory, he could be the x-factor in 2011.

What needs to change?
Composure when the big games are on the line. We lost bouth the finals games we lost because we made bad errors when the game was on the line. If we were more composed we could have held on. But that comes with experience.
