At that time I liked: Deep Purple (my fav DP in rock), ELP (my fav Pictures at an Exhibition ), Yes, Jethro Tull, Crimson King, Frank Zappa (my fav was Hot Rats), Black Sabbath, Wishbone Ash, Rory Gallagher, Free, Peter Green, TYA, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Janice Joplin, Santana, Pink Floyd (Ummagumma), Gentle giant ..

About 18 years ago I transcribed, and learned, the saxophone solo on The Gumbo Variations' from Hot Rats. I could play it then but, although I have it memorised, I cant play it now. Time gets us all. I still think its one of the most interesting sax solos I've heard.
