My kids amaze me with the stuff they listen to. Neither are into what is regarded as popular music with most kids. My 10 year old borrows old jazz and funk cds from my collection and memorises the lyrics. My 13 year old is right into funk, some very difficult fusion and of course Zappa.

That's because the commercial music out there sucks arse.

I grew up on Steely Dan, Steve Miller Band, Deep Purple, Queen, Kiss, David Bowie to name a few. My parents came from an era where music that was popular was infinitely better than the garbage they play today.
