What song are you listening to?

Whisky in the Jar - Metallica.

Dunno what it is but its always done it for me. Solid song to the beginning of my workout. Ear buds, turned up full boar to ear bleed levels on 3peat, blood pumping, I get a 20min sprint on the treadmill out of it. Been doing it for years.

PJ The End

A very close mate died recently and sent it to a few of us before he died. I don't know why I play it as it sad, but it is like hearing him again...

Old James has gone into rehab again and torpedoed the Aussie tour. Pretty ordinary it happened so close but health comes first. Hope they make their way out again but.

I really like Metallica, but I love Thin Lizzy. Classic song.

Best Italian gothic metal I have heard. Saw them at Soundwave a few years back. Another band that has come back with a new album in 2019.

Have a look at the Metallica film clip...
The song itself dates back to the 1600s however. Give or take.

Yes I know. The Dubliners first did it I think - or maybe the highway men. The lyrics themselves - as you say, hundreds of years old. I love the way artists subtly alter the lyrics but the meaning of the song remains constant. It's one of those that lends itself so well to interpretation. The general riff that's considered the norm is all Thin Lizzy. It's an absolute classic. For me, there's nobody on this earth that exudes emotion in a song (particularly this one)as Phil Lynott did. The guy was was insanely talented. If there ever was a rock 'n' roll frontman that I could meet in some after life space, I'd love to have a whisky with Phil Lynott.

The Great Pretender - Freddie Mercury

Thoughts are/were of Matterson whilst listening.

Those lyrics in that song are pretty fascinating. You could interpret it as him singing about his illness.
