What's happened to Jason Cayless....

Jeez, why wld we sign a prop forward for two years when he hadnt competed at top level for the past couple of years because of shoulder problems??
Dont mind the odd speculation, but weve had at least 4 for this year alone…..& given cayless' bargaining postion(or lack thereof)the option for a second year should have been in our favor surely?

Apologies I could not find the exisitng thread.

Injury status for his knee has been changed to indefinite.

I think this may be used as an opportunity to fully rehab his injuries, get him bulked up for next year and at the same time take advantage of the discount in cap space we can get for not playing him.

Just a theory

Surely they would've put some clause in his contract in the clubs favour given his injury record?

You could well be right smeg, that wouldn't be the worst idea given he'd currently dropped down below Payten and Fifita in the props stakes imo.

Always was going to be underdone for 2010

Next year will be the focus and a Decission of weither he is able to continue in NRL.

I'd be supried if he is on big $$$

My understanding is that he came very cheap. It will be interesting to know whats going on with him. I have a feeling a decision has already been made.

Weve bought more than a few names "on the cheap"this season..Cayless,Taumata,Tupou & probably Brown & Daniella..sometimes,in fact most times, u get what u pay for in life.
A more disciplined approach to recruiting outside talent to plug the obvious gaps while promoting talent from within in other positions wld make more sense in most businesses, but ..what can I say other than carn the Tiges!

I guess it depends on how the club approached the signing. Sheens comments before the start of the season suggested that Cayless was always seen as a gamble - if the deal reflected that then I am okay.

Taumata was only a gamble in terms of discipline. My understanding is that there have been few problems in this respect. I think the club has taken the right approach to him given ego (i assume) has been his biggest problem in the past.

My point is/was with a grand final team in u20s AND reserve grade in 2009,as Head Coach I shouldnt totally ignore the fact that Ive got a fair chunk of talent coming thru ,many of which are at least the equivalent in potential of these 5 "spec" signings, none of whom could regularly make the run on side in the clubs they were with the previous season. Why wld u bother?
The sole exception on a raw talent basis (although totally unproven at top grade unlike Todd Carney, who just may be worth the risk )is Taumata, but 4 clubs have already had a shot at him.so why wld wethink I cld do anything different?
Im sincerely hoping that Humphries, coming from a real world background, is as astute as we were all hoping for & cleans out the mediocrity running this football team before they have an opportunity to attach themselves to his coat-tails & entrench themselves for yet another term of mediocrity

That'll do me…lets start looking to offload him somehow...those who signed him for 2 years can go as well.

I think Cayless was brought to us by Ron Burgandy or was it Anderson Silva….

Man .......we could have used his size off the bench against Souffs.....

ahhh…anderson silva....those were the days.........

dissapointed at how this season has turned out for cayless, weve turned injury prone players around before but the werent as old as cayless, unfortunatley unless he has a barnstorming finish to the season he may be released or see out his contract in JB cup which is sad

Sounds like when Mathew Head was out "indefinitely" with that Thumb Injury when he was with us….the real story was the coach thought he was no good and didn't want to play him...I reckon with Cayless we signed another Dud!

Really…the real story with Matt Head was Sheens didn't like him....wow

I think Sheens likes Cayless.....
