Kudos to that courageous bloke on the escalator who was stopping him with the bollard. Likely saved lives.

It’s heartbreaking that she knew she was hit badly enough that she should give her 9 mths old baby, who had also been stabbed FFS, to strangers to look after.
That poor child, talk about not being given a fair go…

Mental health, drugs, maybe both, you just don't know who that person next to you is, what they are thinking or what they may do.

These are things that are happening everyday around the world but you just don't expect them to happen here in Australia.

i was there and heard the gun shots!

Yeah it was crazy. Me, my wife and two kids had arrived to buy my boy new shoes. Two girls in the car park saw us heading in and said they worked at Myer and told us don’t go in because some guy has a knife. We kind of didn’t think anything of it. Then when we got to the top of the escalator we hear two loud bangs. This other family came in and we said don’t go in. Then this Asian guy came up the escalator and said get out of here there is a guy stabbing people. We ran to the car, my daughter was pretty scared. We saw heaps of people running for their cars and the Evac alarm came on. Got out of there but just saw a million police cars and ambulances heading in the direction of the Shopping Centre. And once we saw the footage, we realised we would have come across him because where he was killed you have to walk through to get to the shop we were going to. We’re all good but just makes you count your blessings and how fragile life can be. Four people that were just going to the shopping centre are dead and not coming back to their families. Not to mention the 8 that are critical.

For all the shit we give each other on here, just have fun guys. My life could have changed if I was there two minutes earlier.

I am so relieved to know that you and your family got out safely. It is terrifying to think that these poor victims could have been any one of us, just out going about normal day to day life. Tomorrow is guaranteed to no one, be kind, hold your loved ones close & tell them you love them. 😢

Not having a go at the copper, but it would be good to capture these animals alive to study them.
We can only tighten community protection if we understand what mistakes were made, what loopholes escaped through etc. At the end of the day, every person in this country could do what he did with no pre planning or effort involved. Our community services need to be able to learn.
Now it’s just a guessing game….

Tangential, but in regards to the female police officer; who went from CPR on one of the teenage girls, to chasing and eliminating the threat, to performing CPR on him, to immediately evacuating others post; an almost unimaginable level of courage and bravery.

That woman deserves every damn accolade possible.

In hindsight yes but in terms of what you would do, pull the trigger mate. She saved lives.

My heart goes out to all the victims& families whose lives have been changed forever from this cowardly attack ❤️❤️ Was also very disheartening to see my Muslim community be blamed for this immediately even still after the victims identity has been revealed.

I had the same reaction to the amount of people outing themselves as racists without even knowing a signal fact. All for what? Very quiet today.
