What a win.
Great foundation to build season success on.
This whole squad has potential.
I feel great.

We have good depth in all areas, bar maybe centre

Sounds crazy because his side usually leaks alot of points, but I really dont see why we havent given Noffa a shot in the centres. He only has to be better than Kev.

I seem to remember him being there a few years ago for a brief period and him being defensively awful there.

Didn't we win an a u20's premiership with Nofo at center inside Marika Koro ?

i'll put my hand up and say i didn't give us a chance.

im really proud of how they played and how cleary has built this team. he has taken a moneyball approach to it and it looks bloody amazing.

however, this squad is in my opinion the worst in the comp (maybe after titans?). that also being said, cowboys made it to the grand final last year off the back of 100% effort no matter what.

every game we win, i will gladly put my hand up and concede i was wrong, however every game we lose, i'm not gonna say a "i told you so"

Was Kev really that bad apart from the misread for their try? Not great I know but hardly sack worthy. In saying that, would love for Milne to work out because he is a beast!

Yes. Good thread. All the doomsdayers and white anters on here over the the last month or so have done my head in.
I wonder if they actually enjoyed the win or we're hoping for a loss to say "I told you so". Sack this person or that. Or something about the bus.

I don’t know what’s worse… an ‘I told you so’ after a win or an ‘I told you so’ after a loss.

Personally I like to soak up the wins when they come but this is tempered by our table position at seasons end. We still have a tough month of footy ahead - I’m praying our defense gets better and better.

I don't have a problem with people saying they thought we would lose.

Our squad gave it all today, but its one win. We also destroyed Souths in Round 1 last year. As the season goes on, we will be tested. I don't predict us to get smashed, but there are definitely going to be some areas we are going to struggle in, more so with the ball than without it.

As Eddie said, we probably have the worst roster in terms of talent, but we probably also have close to the best in depth.

I did not give us chance, but that doesn’t make me a fair weather supporter. These posts give me the ….

I loved the win,the effort, but I call it as I see it without my WT glasses on, and I thought we were no chance, my big worry was speed and kicking game......Iam still worried

I thought the same SC, but if we turn up with that defence and intensity on a weekly basis, we will be in every contest.

Perhaps ignorance is a virtue but I always give us a chance. There is no point being a "supporter" if you don't support. I had no idea what Ivan had up his sleeve but I'm happy that the boys pulled it off.

It was a hot day, they were probably at Bondi…where the pub I should have no been at was hahahahaha.....,seriously though I’m happier that we are under the radar with everyone

Just got home from the game, we lack some pace but didnt they show some heart, Kev is Kev & i love him but?. Maybe Milne into Kevs spot, but great win just the same & the $ 3.90 odds fantastic.

I'm always hopeful but commonsense suggested that Chooks were favourites for obvious reasons.

I didn't doubt that they'd put in but I thought Easts had the class to get them home. Happy to be proven wrong,

Honestly, if you were to believe the "experts" no one gave us a chance, although some claimed some curiosity about how we'd play (a bob each way, I guess..)

Reality is that as a fan you go in with your heart, but as a realist you'd have expected us to lose. I was lucky enough to be at the game today and once I knew Reynolds was out, did have my doubts. After 5 minutes, I knew the boys were back!

As for jumping on the bandwagon, no matter what the team, you'll always get this - I am used to it, it is the same in any sport, trust me.

But let's just enjoy today - nothing like winning it close to bell!

Woohoo!!! Said we could do it. Good win to start the season. The doubters have seasons of poor performance and over hyped expectations behind them to base their opinion on. Maybe this is proof Ivan's got a good handle on the players and team. Good effort guys.

I didn't pick this win so I'm pleasantly surprised not in the attack but the defence which apart from someone who should be in reserve grade was better than anything the side has produced since Ellis was with the club. Another bonus my stuck-up sister goes for Easts, fancy the spoon favourites beating the certainties to win the comp! :roll :roll :roll

I wasn't totally optimistic about our chances today. Let's face it, our record against this mob sucks big time and as far as marquee talent goes, they crap on us!

However, since our roster is very different to previous seasons, deep down I was hoping for a much improved showing if nothing else, but what we got surprised me no end!

I can totally understand people thinking we were going to get belted today - to call them 'fair weather' fans is a bit steep. If people were honest, no one could say they really knew how we were going to go or what the end result would be today, so no need to rub some supporters noses in it. Why can't we just enjoy the win together for once instead of playing 'oneupmanship' all the time?

I wasn't having a go at those that thought we'd lose. Of course the Chooks were favourites and it was an upset win.
I was more having a go and all the negativity towards a bad Half in a trail game against the sharks.
From that moment on ( on here ) it was like we were never going to win a game all year and the spoon was ours.
You have to see the positives as well. Anyone who said anything positive about a player and club management was shouted down on here over the last few weeks. It was like all the naysayers on here had chucked the towel in before the season had started.

I’d agree with that, a wins a win , and grab it with both hands. But we’ve seen it all before, I’ll start getting excited when we become a team that can put it together over a few weeks
