Where are we at competitively?

Judging from the performance of other teams in the opening 7 rounds, where would you put us? Does our ladder position flatter us or is it a true reflection of our strength?

So far, Panthers are the Benchmark. We are not too far behind them

Panthers
Tigers
Broncos
Warriors

I don't rate the Bulldogs or Roosters.

Souths are up there too and don’t laugh, but Manly are the form team over the past 3 weeks!

We didn’t let them score a try in the second half. We are bashing teams every week. I reckon we are the most physical team in the nrl. We cost ourselves that game , they didbr beat us. If we get some luck with injuries , then we are at worse a top 8 team and at best a top 4 team. Attack is letting us down .
Our attack simply looks better with Jock as game manager.

Fair argument who should be six on form I guess but I think Jock needs to lead us around.

This is the question. How good are we really? For mine:
1. We are leaving it all out there. Is it sustainable over a season?
2. Like last year we have been lucky with injuries and suspensions. That luck will probably turn at some stage during the season. But our depth is better.
3. Like last year our red zone attack is woeful.
4. When we played Parra, Knights and Broncos they were decimated by injuries before and during the game. True top four teams would have put them away handsomely. We only did that against the Knights.

The close losses against souths and the broncos hurt because of the last 15 years, the fact that we have had lengthy losing streaks the last few years, and thus there is uncertainty over the next few months. I’d feel More comfortable if we had of banked at least one of those two games.

For mine we are much improved but with our luck to date and red zone issues we are not a top 4 team. Perhaps top 8. The next couple of weeks will be interesting. I could easily see us losing to the Raiders as it is our third short turnaround. The sharks are always tough. We could easily be 4-4 in two weeks with our momentum gone. Then have to travel to Melbourne to play a team we have recently badly struggled with. How would people feel about that?

On the positive they are 4-2 …we would have all taken that …

Points 1 and 3 should give people food for thought …

I don’t get too high or too low on one game … they haven’t put two good games in a row yet
+64 points differential after 5 games of football is pretty good, we still have the 3rd highest in the competition and could have made it the second highest against half a reserve grade team tonight. But the issue is Madden wasn't playing.

This is the most pleasing thing for me. The change in our line speed and our players going after the physical contact. Seeing us drive opposition players back, pull off hits, cut their space down. This has been an amazing change. If we maintain that we will finish 6th to 8th. If we maintain it and get our attack right in the halves we can possibly finish higher.

We are a 60-65min team.

Early rounds we started slow & finished well.
Now we are starting strong and finishing poor last 2 weeks or have 10-15min period of wheels off lapses. Last 2 games we had lapses in spurts we didn’t show much resilience at all which was missing from other games.

We have had a very favorable draw and this week with the next 3 will tell us exactly where we are compared to other teams.

Honestly in defence feel like I’m watching Melbourne storm when they would smash teams. Loving what I’m seeing this year!!!
