I added one other dimension that I have seen in other political compass tests, which is the centrist position (shaded area inside the diamond)

My utter loathing of organised religion unfairly skewed me to far towards the bottom left

I think the same thing happened to me.

I am far more to the right than that…

Most people are a lot more left than they think. Also they tend to mix up left and right with Libertarian / Authoritarian. For example, Hitler is often considered right wing (as are all facists)… yet he is far from it.

I hate people who waste my money independent of party lines.

Labour on both Fed and State are well deserving of a caining for their results of late

Facism is not right wing… nor is it the opposite of Communism

Yeah i see where your coming from
That graph is quite accurate in terms of the opposing views instead of the old simplistic line of facist to the right centralists in the middle & communist to the left

True, Hitler was the leader of the NSDAP, which was the National Socialist Party at the time.

Facism and Communism are certainly not polar opposites but to call the Nazi Party socialist or even quasi-socialist is ridiclous. Its like saying that the Liberal Party stands for liberalism when, certainly on social issues, it generally doesnt.

I suggest some reviewing of the history of the Nazi Party and the fact that, amongst Jews, they targeted communists, is in order.

Facism is more closely aligned with the right wing because authoritarianism is the central point of facism, along with the corporatist model of economic organisation. Sadly, the modern right wing parties have abandoned their early liberlist leanings and, in many respects, are truly just authoritarian parties, hence why it has become common to call conservatives "facists".

Just looked it up and seems your are right ST, I revoke my previous statement. Can't say I ever studied Hitlers politics, might make for worthwhile reading one day.

The last paragraph of your post raises an interesting point. The Labor Party often advocates policies that involve heavy governance whereas the Liberals prefer a system based on less governance and regulation. Would you not consider Labor to be more authoritarian than the Liberals since they have their hands in everything?

I think both Labor and Liberal are, unfortunately, both relatively authoritarianism. IMHO there is little difference between the parties in this respect or even generally. Certainly the Labor Party is closer to the classic "liberal" ideals in a social sense, but not by much unfortunately. However, the fact that conservative parties desire to impose religious or majority views in terms of certain values (sexuality, marriage etc) means that they are often ascribed as "facist".

I dont believe that Liberals actually implement less governance anyway. Under Howard we were the most over-governed in history.

He got most of it right though.

You reckon? lol

Far from a fan… but like Sothern said... there is very little difference in the two parties in Australia, which makes every election difficult for me... But then my general hatred for the Liberal party leaves me with no other option.... For me it is always voting the lesser of two evils which sucks massively!

I support Labor now like I support the Wests Tigers - they are my team and I cant stand the other bunch. That doesnt mean I agree with some, or indeed most, of what they do.
