Where does Moltzen fit in?

I like Moltzen but I think he should either be halfback or 14 Because at 4 he desn't do much and at fullback he never attempts to catch it which usually leads to the other team scoring or a everyone running around trying to pick it up and drop it

Braindead play pushing Inu in the back chasing that kick.

Instead of recieving the ball in attacking zone from a dropout we go to defending a set and restarting 20 out from our own line.
Dumb.

Developing into a Bird-like player, and trying to milk penalties at every given chance. Difference being, he never gets them.

Where does he fit ? For me, on the bench swapping with Robbie start of 2nd half and cover for injuries in the backs or forwards (with Ayshford moving into backrow).

For what I've seen of him, he does add a bit of a spark when he has the ball in hand. Hasn't got his mojo back yet, but he should've been playing State Cup start of the year and playing off the bench a couple of weeks ago with a brand new confidence.

Moltz is lacking abit of identity at the mo. I called for him to be in the centres.

I see improvement but he isnt showing the flair and success he did 2 years back.

I want him at the club and in the 17, This is hard.

PS - Ashford will end up in the 2nd row according to yesterdays ABC radio grab with Coach Sheens

i really think that moltzen can handle both one and 7, his kicking game at 7 is quite good and gives robbie and benji a rest, but with mckinnon departing next year i'd love to see him at 1 permanently unless the rumours about lui are true, then he is a competent no 7, i really like the kid and he had consolidated his spot before his knee injury ,i think he is too good for the bench, his defence is very solid so in my view he has that over lui,

//4\. The anti-Moltzen sheep spammers are eating a whole lot of humble pie and it will take a massive turnaround for anything to change. Its probably not possible.//

who were these anti-Moltzen people? lots of people don't want him at fullback for sure, but is anyone actually anti-Moltzen?

there is heaps of anti moltzen people on here, makes me angry most times i log in.

i have heard him referred to a cat, soft, petulant brat this week

people have said he is no where near first grade standard, should be in state cup, people bagged the hell out of him on the weekend at half back, in fact no matter what he does there is heaps of people who bag him constantly

Tis week without Benji in the side is a time for all three of our younger halves to step up and be counted.

Moltzen would look good in a Souths or Cronulla jumper but to keep Marshall happy we better put him at full back next year and select big wingers who are prepared to cart the ball up when Moltzen offloads the ball to them.

I hope Miller has a big game this week and leaves Sheens with a big headache.

A half back is only as good as his forward pack going forward and his backs running good lines.

I have been closely watching and following rugby league for nearly 30 years, in that time I have seen some great fullbacks, some average fullbacks and some poor fullbacks.

I can't see one part of Moltzen's play that makes me think he is an NRL standard fullback, I can't believe some people here say they want him in the 17 so lets just throw him into the number one jersey.

Fullback is such a vital position and I would be very dissapointed if we can't find a specialist for this position in 2012.

In saying that Moltzen does have some skills, I was dissapointed in his game at halfback against the Storm but we can't discount just how good the Storm defence was and how quickly they got up off their line (half the time they were off side).

So where to for Moltzen - clearly it has to be utility.

However can we afford to have Fulton and Moltzen on the bench?

I reckon Moltzen distributed well last week, he gave plenty of time and space for Ayshford and Simona, he put the ball in front of Dwyer and Eliis a number of times who put pressure on the Storm fringes, that is his job, especially when we have our other 2 play makers Benji and Farrah taking the line on so often.

As for him having no skill set to be a fullback, I disagree, I think his performances particuarly in 2009, showed he can play there very effectively, his support play through the middle was very good and positionally he was ok.

He doesn't charge the ball back like some other fullbacks, and he is not super under the high ball, but he is no where near as bad as guys on here make out.

Moltzen cops a massive raw deal on here.

A few others do as well, Lui and Beau Ryan and earlier in the year people were massively into Dwyer and talking about him being dropped.

Anywhere but first grade.

Did a quick search on YouTube and saw how Moltz was in the old days (2009). He should have started in State Cup for confidence, but seeing as how ordinary Lui has been lately, I think it is time to give him a run at 7 before Miller steps up for good. He may shine off the bench but he hasn't failed at 7 yet so he should be given more time at 7 first. Lui's problem is that he's a 5/8 pretending to be a half. At best he's a poor man's Benji so we end up with 2 Benjis and chaos as a result. I think this is the reason Wests Tigers can't get any momentum. Lui's tackling demands a rethink of his position so shift his to 5/8 for this week then back to State Cup! Moltzen should get a few games at 7 and the off the bench if it doesn't work. 8/9 wins at half says it will.

No, he's a singer.
He has lots of different tunes.

I just read this and its a reasonable attempt - I'd give it a 6.

Back on topic. His attitude is starting to annoy me. Add that to not running the ball last week when he had a gap to aim at and I may join the sheep spammers.

I think we have two younger players with a lot of ability in Lui and Moltzen that ideally we would find a spot for in our team. Unfortunately they are both appearing to be struggling at this level at this point and something is going to have to give soon.

Tiger05 seeing you are such a fan of Moltz i 100% respect that you can also see fault, takes a big man to admit that.
I want ALL our players to get better & do great things but Moltz looks lost at times & Lui lacking confidence that he had late 2010\. I see the good plays ALL our boys make & of course the bad, both Moltz & Lui do alot of good though cosidering both their injuries & age. Moltz only 15games in since 2010 injury & Lui injured ankle Rd.4-6 off & hand bandaged since Rd.8\. If you look back at the games Moltz played from 08-2011 you will see majority have been at Fullback/Utility. Seems the same for Beau, with all his good work in 2010 & last couple games, he's also our Utility man, esp. if Utai re-signs. I'm happy for Moltz to train his arse off for Fullback for 2012 & hopefully he suprises us all & comes out roaring.

I'm starting to think Moltzen looks better at fullback than in their halves. Yes he has a lot to learn but from that position he can get the ball around the ruck and cause trouble.

The issue is that he isn't in the same form that he was prior to his injury. The question is will he get back to the level he is capable of.

His biggest problem has been coming back from injury and not having the chance to settle into one position..
He's had more positional changes than you would see at a kama sutra convention.

I wish I could say I'd been to one.

Your point is correct though. Players that get caught with the utility tag seem to have a harder time progressing.

Unless they are Kurt Gidley.
