Where does the football club need to invest in?

I am not close enough to the tigers to understand what the strengths and weakness of the football club are.

It's been suggested by a few in this forum that one of the reasons Galvin wants to leave is to do with a lack of investment in certain areas (aka not Benji specifically as everyone has interpreted it).

I am also concious that the fish rots at the head, and before all the other grades can be great, the NRL structure has to be... And I feel like that's on the right trajectory..

So can anyone in the know, share the lay of the land as to what are our strengths and weaknesses are as an NRL football club? What are some of the reasons a young up and coming player may choose another club over the Tigers (let's take the Benji vs Bellamy type of comparison out of it and focus on structures).

Depth and everything that leads to it. One of our biggest problems the last few years is our reserve grade has been really poor. When guys are out the reaplcaements have been a long way off.

Depth we can all agree on...

But is there anything systematic that impacts the NRL team? Do we have all the same resources as every other club when it comes to strength and conditioning, rehab, video seasons etc etc?

I feel our strength and conditioning needs major work at nrl and junior level, for the last few years it always seems our players look a little small, and all our juniors that come through look very small and physically underdeveloped

Don't think you can base any views on the state of the club because of what is coming from the Galvin camp. It makes no sense to go to Parramatta for that reason. Firstly they saw no value in him unlike the Wests Tigers and it is through his profile/ dev at this club that he has now become potential young player target number 1. If he was going to the Roosters or Melbourne that would make sense.
This club has had major problems with image - i.e. it hasn't been a destination club since it's inception. Until the FG side can achieve some level of sustained success the best juniors will always be tempted by offers from perceived more successful clubs. Local loyalties are thing of the past and their are no rules in place from the NRL to ensure clubs are rewarded for producing juniors and or protecting them from other clubs picking them off.

Probably wouldn't hurt having a modern home ground.

Some attractive Third Party deals available wouldn't be a poke in the eye.

I think that there are a few things we need to invest in. I have covered off on most of it in the Deep Dives on Coaching Development and what it means to be a development club. While we should be developing these things concurrently where we can, there is a bit of a sequence we need to be cogniscant of.

1. We need to develop a FG side that is consistently in the eight and pushing for a title. This is the priority.
2. Our FG team needs to have a style of play and a culture that kids want to emulate.
3. The identification and development of players though a systematic approach.
4. A professional coaching team that is developed.

I just finished the deep dive on the Salary Cap - so let me add number 5. A strategially managed salary cap that is supported by TPA to maitain a high quality roster that is, in time, primarily home grown.

Galvin is 100% not leaving due to lack of Depth!

First grade really doesn't care about reserve grade beyond "can they throw in a few blokes to cover".

Galvin is leaving for all the reasons he has stated... 3x spoons will do it. Strength and conditioning 100%... not depth.

Look seeking and developing juniors, sure. But lets not go splurging cap space on depth.

What's the issue with the strength and conditioning at the club? The boys look fitter than they have in previous years.

Recruiters, skills coaches.

We recruit the wrong players in our lower grades, that's why we don't have much depth, all the teams below first grade lose almost every week due to insufficient talent and coaching.

Our youngsters don't improve, we need better/more coaches in every grade
