Where would you play benji?

He is way down in form, and didnt look remotely fit last week to be playing NRL Football… Get him 100% fit first!

After that, I'd play Benji in the Boxing Ring each week with the Halfback Choice for the week, for 5 x 3min rounds so hopefully when they walk out Benji knows who's boss...

After he realises his Halfback is gona beat the crap out of him again next week, only then should he be playing 5/8.

Maybe, you should add 'dont re-sign' Benji to the list and see what happens….

I wouldnt play him anywhere on that list....I would get rid of the useless 'error machine' alltogether.

I think the worry with playing Marshall in NSW Cup is that he might become a victim of some cheap shots

NSW Cup is now mostly guys on the edge of NRL or just out of NYC these days.

I have not seen that kind of cheapshot in a few years

Been a lot of bitching on here of late about Benji (justified), and some crazy calls about where he should play.

Therefore I was pleasantly surprised to see that 75% of respondants so far chose 5/8\. It is his only position. If he is to continue with us it must be at 5/8th

His only position is 5/8th. Someone however needs to remind him he is a senior player playing in a team sport and needs to behave that way.
He would be the opposite type of player to what Potter would like… that is safety first no errors.
I would think Potter would really be getting the shits with him kicking the ball on early tackles and when he throws fancy balls putting players under pressure for no reason.

He's a 5/8.

I think everyone is forgetting the real problem here. It's our forwards. Halves cant play behind a busted forward pack. If we dont have a pack that can tire the opposition defense, then the backs and halves cannot capitalise on it. Our best game this year was when our forwards dug in and played tough football. Against melbourne. If they could turn out and play every weekend like that, the rest of the team should fall into place.

Halfback, leave Sirro at 5/8 he's solid and can only get better

In defence let him hide somewhere…maybe as marker where he can rush the kicker and grab guys jumpers from side-on?

In attack he can roam and put himself where ever he wants

How on earth will that help the team? Sirro is a worse 5/8 than Benj and we still wont have a halfback….

Fullback no. Centre no way.
I'd be playing him at 7 with Fulton at 6 until Anasta returns.

Please dont point the finger at the forwards Justo. We had plenty of time in their 20\. We were out muscled in the end, but I cant remember getting a single repeat set let alone scoring tries.

With Benji out of form and a young inexperienced Sirro outside him we have no idea what to do in the attacking zone. Let Fulton play 6 which is pretty desperate but we need his cool head. His run arounds with Farah in recent games look like the only structured attack we had.

So how does our forward pack compare to the rest of the comp. Take woods and farah out of the equation who are clearly piggy backing the rest of them. You could put any halves combination into the spot and theyd struggle just as much as ours are.

And you want to put Fulton at 6 :crazy

The problem with Benji in the halves is that he shows no restraint, no self control…. its the Benji show. He lacks the discipline for percentage football when it is needed. Unfortunate, because it means we need someone else to meter him, so he cannot be first reciever and certainly isnt a halfback, he cant organise himself.

The backs didn't help but the isues started up front. In fact the pace of the play the ball during that multitude of attacking sets was glacial. I swear I saw Dogs markers sitting down for a cup of tea and a quick smoke while our forwards attempted to get up to play the ball. Meanwhile the Dogs' outside backs had reestablished their defensive positions and commenced a discussion of whether Nietzscheian philosophy should be considered a system of ethics or an overtly non-ethical construct. Apparently Josh Morris falls into the structuralist camp.

Justo I think the point was that Benji had that tough forward pack against the Storm you talked of and still went for stupid 2nd and 3rd tackle kicks, and persisted down a defensively stacked blind side all night for no returns… he didnt evaluate the situation on hand at all and with plenty of ball in great position delivered nothing.

Marshall is one of those rare players with magic hands and unpredictable step, his ideal position is 5/8.
Some people compare him with Lockyer, Fittler or Daily, IMHO he is a different type of player, the closest comparison is with Cliff Lyons.

Yeah, but he needs a good half-back to take the pressure off and give the attack a few more options other than "give it to Benji".

Black'n'White I think you'll find he'll play like that no matter what number is on his back. He has and always will play what he sees. Unfortunately a lot of the time no one else sees what he sees. I'm far from sticking up for the guy here, but I do believe Benji plays well when the rest of the team plays well. He plays off the back of the tigers and not the other way around.

I think you are arguing my point there… 6 or 7 have to be either catalysts and/or directors. Benji is a ball in motion player, he needs someone else to start the movement.

Probably am. I argue with myself a lot about the same thing too sometimes. No offense. So what if im a little bit special. One needs to be to follow the tigers I think.

To continue with us - 5/8\. I think in another team environment he could play as a fullback.

We need to stick it out with Benji in the halves and hopefully inject Brooks in later on, or keep going with Sirro, either way we need to choose one pairing and stick with it. It's killing us that it's round 8 and we've already had 4 or 5 different pairings.
