Which junior will shock us next year?

It is so hard to make a call on these things. I played SG Ball against Lovett and Sirro from Balmain and Teddy and Noffa from Wests and even back then they were the guys everyone was talking about.

I don't know about Lovett I hope he makes it I thought he was better than Sirro in his early days but Sirro has really kicked on.

Teddy and Noffa have always been in a battle for the best from the West and nearly every year just like in the NRL last year Noffa gets off to a good start but by the end of the year Teddy hits top gear and goes past him.

i always thought simona was pretty good, but not nearly as good as he turned out to be, WOW. even in his first 4-5 games simona was average at best in NRL this season then in the panthers game he just exploded.

Too true mate. When he started in first grade, it was like watching Geoff Daniella. Decent player with some good skill, but probably would spend his career in and out of first grade. Then as you said he just exploded and was our best centre all year. Speed, skill, decent defence and did well on the wing when needed. He also played a great game last year against Souths when he got chucked at fullback because of an injury and absolutely killed it, so he also has some utility value. Hopefully he keeps it up.

Seems it is a case of the son following the father in the case of Sirro,in that he "really kicked on". Never expected him to go anywhere when he played centre, as I considered him to be soft for such a big teenager and an easy touch to get the ball from, just about at will.

He sure proved me wrong, developing into a player that unlike many others, could rise to the occasion, especially at the highest level.

Asipeli Fine. I have not seen much of him but roosters have big raps on him.

Is he still with us?

I like Fine… Could be an awesome prospect if given the chance!

Would also like to see him get a break in first grade. Just not sure what position the Tigers have him set for these days. He came over from the roosters as a center with the raps that you talk of, but spent most of last year playing second row and picked up some MOM awards along the way.

I agree, Fine was good in the games I saw and always among the best in our side. He just seems to do what he does well and puts in a lot more than those around him at times.

So if he is still with us, I would be happy to see Asipeli be our surprise packet if given an opportunity.

Watto, Fine resigned for 1 year along with the resigning of Big T, Rowe and Fiagatusa for 2 years.

Nathan Brown could be the big surprise

if you are right, it will be a surprise to me.

I have always rated Brown as a good NYC player, who would go onto to NSW cup, the fact the club blooded him in NRL this year shows the club rates him very highly.

Hopefully they are right and I am wrong.

I hope he does as well, he will need to pick up his mobility to cut it in firsts.

Good luck to him. Hope his pec repairs with enough time for a real pre-season. I see he playing mostly nsw cup.

But then again woods pretty much skipped that step all together.

Brown is a head case, a nightmare, huge and smelly and annoying. A perfect pig. He's a throwback.

I think Asipele Fine won the WT NSW Cup coaches award this season. So he's got something about him. Though coaches favourites at WT have tended to be unimpressive.

I think Buchanan will be the surprise. That full year of NRL will have matured him very fast. The off season came just in the nick of time for the lad. He is very, very big for his age. He's as tall as Woods but a much bigger frame. An off season building strength and doing sprint work and he'll star. I'm picking him for a huge season.\

BMM is going to go to another level in 2014\. The signs are right. I see Sironen/BMM as a devastating back row combo together for many years. Brooks is going to love putting them into holes with Teddy backing up inside. Having big strong fast backrowers like those two on each side lets us find the weakness wherever it lies.

Pumped for 2014\. Teddy is gonna score 20 tries.

Lovin the enthusiasm on this thread. We have a lot to look forward to!

Can't wait to see how these guys develop further over the off-season:

Teddy
Siro
BMM
Sue
Simona
Nofo
Koro
Mr T
Brooks

Browns biggest problem is that he will miss the entire pre season, for a developing prop that's a massive blow. Really he should be just looking at getting 100% and some solid performances in nsw cup when the chance arrives! anything else is a bonus in 2014.

Totally agree , but reckon when he does get his shot at the back end of 2014 he will make his mark

Just love his aggression , we need a lot more of that and hope the other forwards follow his lead (legally of course  )

Can't see brown rocking up round 1 next year and smashing it. No preseason, wasn't amazing in his game against the dragons (alright, there's potential but you know… ) and coming back from the injury as a rookie will make it even tougher as we saw with Teddy.

For me, the true surprises are likely to be in Ava, Buchanan and perhaps Fiagatusa. Not sure on his injury details though.

The rest won't surprise me too much I doubt, like would you be surprised if BMM, Sue or Siro killed it next year? Right now i could definitely see that potential and ability there in all of them. Same with Tedesco and Brooks they have ability, they all just need to keep working at it and hopefully keep improving with experience. No drastic changes in any of them, they've all done pretty decently in the back end of 2013.

Brown a thug? I'll allow punching bag, but thug is outrageous. I've seen that Canberra-Tigers stink in the 20s and Brown dead set doesn't throw one.
The punching bag is the unluckiest bloke in NYC history? Who else has thrown zero punches and ended up with a four-week holiday? Unbelievable.
