If PNG are bought in I hope they're based in Port Moresby.

Most likely they won’t be. If they wanted to do it properly, it’ll take longer than 2026 at the earliest to bring them in. They’ll want Aussies in the first grade team as well and they’ll struggle to do that being based in PNG. My guess is Cairns if they’re the side to come in.

I wouldn't call another Brisbane team expansion , the last 2 have gone to SEQLD. That would be just lazy, not improving the player pool at all.

Think it’s time a team is set up in Perth and Adelaide/Darwin to create a truly national comp. Would also allow the league to create conferences like the NFL as the current draw is unfair and crap. The extra TV dollars and corporate support would fund both franchises. The issue is the decline in grassroots footy which needs to be addressed. An extra 50-70 professional opportunities might help young players to remain in the sport.

Rubbish. Plenty of sponsors, the time zone helps with new tv rights and a decent junor and senior comp. Enought to get 15-20k suppprters per homw game at least.
Heaps of Maoris.over here who.love league helps too.

Thats all lovely.....all those things equal a few bucks for a potential Perth francise....how do they equate to additional revenue for the NRL who are the ones who make the decision?

TV and streaming rights increase and the additional time slot helps in that regard. V’Landys is aiming for the moon in trying to land US fans as their population is huge and relatively new to gambling on sports (outside of Vegas) due to their laws.
If he’s successful and the NRL strike gold we could see a 24 team comp.

How would any new franchise make money for the NRL? Any team from anywhere will give them more revenue from broadcasters for the extra game.

They sound a bit insecure. I wouldn't put another team in anywhere that's 40klms from another NRL club. That area is well serviced.

Tv rights. The 2 hour.time difference when put forward to the tv execs means more opportunites for advertising revenue.
Kick off over here at 4pm = 6pm on the East. Of cpuld kick off at 6pm and be the 8pm game. Either or there is enough sponsorship and support to justify a team more than evreryelse bar ipswich/South Brisbane
