I like Laphroaig when I can afford it, or when my Missus gets it for my birthday. Come to think of it, Father's day is coming soon.

Have a bottle of the 18 that has tripled in value since I bought it. My favorite whiskey but I'm too scared to open it.

Save it till a really good mate calls around and then upend it well.

good lord just saw the price of that!!!! make sure the occasion warrants it!!!

Have been tempted a few times this season but sanity has prevailed

hahahaha never quite hit the mark

Out of sorrow mate, not joy :anguished:

drink it with joy not despair

Top 10 day of my life for sure.
Visited the ‘Suntory Yamazaki Distillery’ the day before they shut to visitors for Covid. Very hospitable in how much they allowed me to drink lol.

Not a cheap habit. Do you have a go to sub $50? For me I find a bottle of Jameson is always handy.

Yeah I always have a bottle of 'Jameson' and 'Monkey Shoulder' lying around. Good for all occasions those two

Single malt (barley) whiskies have a more complex base so its flavor profile develops a broader deeper spectrum during their maturation, and the older the better - 12 years old is usually the minimum for good one.

Blends (economical grains: corn, rye, wheat) have a flatter base whose flavor profile only develops so far, needing much less time maturing in barrels.

The type, quality and age of barrels and casks (such as American Oak ex-Bourbon, ex-Sherry or ex-Tawny) to flavor the whiskies adds to the cost, the higher the cost the better the barrels and casks - as opposed to newer barrels for producing blends and bourbons (corn).

Tasmanian, Japanese single malt are top quality but expensive, you can find Scottish single malt whiskies at half the price.

If you like a mixer, stick with the blends and Bourbons.

I was fortunate enough to live in Oban for two years back in the 90s. Whilst there, I developed quite a taste for whisky. Absolutely love the stuff. If you manage to spot Bunnahabhain don't pass it up. I'll guarantee you'll love it.

I wanted to do that in Japan last year but I ran out of time.

Are you a fan of Sake?

Talisker for a good smokey single malt and Amrut Fusion for a very decent Indian single malt(dont laugh it is very nice).Suntory is also excellent but a little pricy

Defs worth it. If they had a hotel at the distillery I'd never leave. Whole trip right there

Sake was a no for me. Couldn't understand why they drink so much sake when all these amazeballs whisky's are available.

Don't drink the cheap stuff for a start. Cheap Sake is swill.
