Who’s progressing best ?

In the modern day game the fittest and strongest players have a big advantage.
The fittest players at each club are generally one of their best players.
Of course you need a bit of football ability and IQ to go with it, but the point is our young emerging players all have their fair share of football ability and IQ. So whether or not they progress to becoming good quality regular NRL players or not will largely depend on their attitude and commitment, what sacrifices they are willing to take to get their bodies as fit, strong and fast as possible.
Don’t want anymore athletes, I want footballers.

Some good interviews on Behind The Roar with Talyn Da Silva and Chris Faagatu.
Da Silva in particular speaks very well, he looks extremely fit and looking much stronger with age and maturity. He mentioned he made his debut at 81kgs, is now 85kgs and he hopes to get himself to a playing weight of about 90kgs.
When hearing him speak it’s easy to know why there is so much hype about his potential aside from his obvious talent on the field. At 18 years old he’s still really just a kid growing into his body, but expecting plenty of good things from him in 2024.
Faagatu also comes across as a very confident kid. He clearly backs his strength and aggressive playing style and admits it’s his fitness and speed that he needs to keep working on. He mentioned through hard work so far this pre season he has dropped from around 101kgs to 97kgs, so he’s not overly big for a modern day forward, but as he’s only 18 years old he will naturally put on size over the next few years. He certainly doesn’t lack anything in aggression or toughness and they are great attributes to have for a young up and coming forward.
