Who did the chargedown?

From Wayne Cousins report in Willow's Media articles thread:
Carney had one shot at a field goal attempt from close range but the ball was charged down by Chris Heighington and Aaron Woods.

I'd like to know what happened on that play. I was swearing my head off. when the sharks got the ball then when Benji knocked on, then when the whistle went because I thought we gave away the penalty.

well thats what I don't get how were they offside if it came off Woods and Benji knocked it on? was it that the shakrs were offside when Carney kicked the ball? can you be offside in a drop goal attempt?

really? so we were lucky there, can't believe it hasnt been talked about in the media yet!

It has been,
Flanagan was spittin chips about the charge down and the Best disallowed try,
Big talkin point on the radio.

Apparently we were lucky on both counts.

Best's try should have been disallowed. Given the horrific officiating in the second half, I'd say we ended up square for the day anyway.

Yeah Maxwell screwed up, afaik a charge down puts all players onside

I think the ruling is they were never onside. It's tricky but they were already inside 10m of the player receiving the ball before he grabbed it. Just because you suddenly come onside doesn't negate the fact you were offside up to that point. If they were 10m away from Marshall they could have been in front of the kicker and been placed onside to move forward but the touch by us doesn't allow them to be standing next to Marshall.

That's my understanding of it anyway but I'm no referee.
