Milne and Fonua

Predicting Suli to turn out a dud, just have a feeling.

The kid was one of our best at the start of the season. Unless the injury has an effect on him going into next season, I don't see anything stopping him.

Hard not to be impressed with Suli but time will tell if he can improve or even maintain his form. My only question mark is speed and if he has the engine to make the change into a backrower in a few years, from what i saw this year he reminded me of a young Izzy falou

Against Cronulla in the first round at LO, Suli with early ball and a little room to move scored a great try. This is just a glimpse of his potential. With a ball playing fullback Suli is likely to see more early ball in space and his ability to put his winger away reminds of a one of the great centres who used to play for the Eels. Chambers and Scott are not noted speedsters despite all the hype around the latter. Note how easily Scott was contained by Wighton when he got into the clear.

Maybe a brick wall TBD.

If he is a dud - hope we have a few more in the cupboard.

Yeah me too! If his rookie season is any indication, I reckon he's gonna be a star!

Only time will tell if he's going to be a star or not, let's re-visit this topic in 12 months.
I can't explain why I feel that he's going to be a dud but it's just a prediction I thought I'd share.
Hope he proves me wrong.

The only predictions I take stock in are the drunken match premonitions of Shane.

TBH I've watched less than a dozen Matulino games so Im not the best judge on him. Woods is very consistent in getting the team down the right end of the field , producing offloads , plays long mins and good in defence .
If Matulino is close or better I'll be more than stoked.

I think that's the right attitude to take with Woods. He isn't a team within himself he also isn't a bad forward. Halfway between a Sam Burgess and a Chris Heighington, he won't win games for you but he will do his job.

IMHO for 950k he is too expensive. Then again for 950K you get a great forward and if you buy 350k forwards instead of 400k forwards to make up for that then he may be worth it.

Des Haslier was famous for having a formula to calculate player value. Clearly it is broken now, but in it's time he was able to buy guys on the cheap and get max value out of them.

Matulino for approx 600K. Done. IMHO he is not as good as Woods but if he is 90% as good as Woods then we are far ahead. Still Woods can get the job done, people hate on him because of his media handling, but performance wise he is still an 800k NRL player IMHO.

It was 475k for Matulino - that is good value / 650k for Packer - also good value.

I thought Matulino and Packer were signed for more than that?? Was it ever disclosed?

It was never revealed. The media would have you believe both were signed to $750k contracts, but really it's more like $450k for Matulino and $550k for Packer. Pretty sure Matulino also has a car deal in his contract

Its hard to know what the real salaries are for any players considering the amount of conflicting information.
