Who is the best referee in the NRL ??

@Flippedy said:
Col Pearce - the last decent rugby league ref

didnt he rob someone in a grand final?

I know Darcy Lawler allegedly robbed Wests after backing the dragons and letting King score or something

Did Col pearce get similarly accused of a something (excluding the gambling) for a GF??

I miss players playing the ball forward

I think in todays game it would be a real advantage if you could do so

Yeah they were the days !
Player makes a break , gets tackled , no one at marker , quick tap , and off again !

Oh let's get the biffs out of the game the shoulder charges ,the NRL don't understand it's a contact sport :brick: but yes let's play 25 minute quarters :bulb:

I can't stand the dickheads who run the game .
They F@$& the rules over year after year .
My biggest GRIPE is the " held up in goal rule "
…. It's like " you got close fellas , but how about you take the ball back to the Ten meter line and have another go "
And imagine if the hookers actually hooked for the ball in a scrum !!!

Just wondering who the majority think is the best referee in the NRL

For me its a choice between the Badge and Klein

Happy Tiger I know it was a different era and it was before the NRL and he's passed away.
I thought you would've picked.
Barry Seymour Gomersall
(Grasshopper) being a Queenslander .

The current referees are nowhere as controversial as Darcy Lawler was.

Extract from The Daily Telegraph
May 11, 2013 12:00AM

The most controversial chapter of his career relates to the 1963 grand final between St George and Western Suburbs, which is equally embraced and admonished, depending on who you speak to. History best remembers it for the slop and mud and the image photographer John O'Gready captured of Dragons captain Norm Provan and Magpies counterpart Arthur Summons embracing each other at fulltime. Wests players remember the game slightly differently, strongly believing that Lawler, the referee that miserable September afternoon, had backed St George.

They believed this because their prop, Jack Gibson, had turned to hooker Noel Kelly as they pulled on their boots in the dressing room and drawled: "We can't win. …....... Lawler has backed them".

The penalty count against Wests was pretty red-hot. However, of all the incidents that Wests players have howled about for the past 50 years, the try to Dragons winger Johnny King, when he appeared to be tackled but allowed to rise and run again and score the match-winning try, is recalled the most.

COME ON YOU GUYS

You need to get over it - more than 50 years ago and it wasn't even the Wests Tigers.

Isn't that who we support here or are we going back into the dark ages.

They won - you lost and that is it. Darcy Lawler isn't in this poll or Col Pearce.

Gee Russell, maybe in future, we should all run our posts by you to check on whether you think that their interesting enough for you??
Simple answer if you don't like a post is ….,ignore it
When I last looked it wasn't a rule that we could only talk about WT's here and nothing else.

Now that Hayne has gone i don't really think there is much between the refs.

Hometown was near the bottom of the list , wasn't he

He was down there by himself. I can cop a bad call here and there but he seemed to favour one side all the time. And it was never us. He's in my paul mcblane folder.
