Mick Cronin can tell you a story about Buddy especially at Lidcombe where he was bamboozled by Buddy on the sideline on a packed Sunday afternoon. Yes maybe he wasn't my favourite player but he sure did leave an imprint in a young kids mind.

Yeah AHX Buddy was a true enigma. Could be brilliant and yet equally could be very average.
I love the colorful stories that surround the late Buddy Cain … He started his career at Souths in the early 70s where he was a local junior. Legend has it that after playing mostly Reserve grade he fell out with the Rabbitohs after Bobby McCarthy's house was broken in to and robbed. 5 years later he bobs up at Wests ... And I love the account of a Lidcombe Oval game where the ground announcer is purported to have read out the team lists just prior to the first graders running out with ...
"The Newtown Jets are as per program whilst for Wests their is just the one change, Don Moseley comes onto the wing to replace Buddy Cain who is currently helping Police with their inquiries."
A very colorful character was our Buddy ... Many many stories ... Begining with him as a teenager running onto the SCG to score the ball after a late 60s grand final.
