Interesting question imo, considering we won't have any current Origin players in 2018 or all out superstars earning 1 million a year. I'll take a stab and say Reynolds.

Reynolds is definitely one.

I guess it's possible to have a player earning more if it's a player we pick up whose still under contract at another club who is getting subsided.

Looking like Josh Reynolds so should be plenty of money to build a balanced roster with good depth something we are not used to having.
 
Reynolds 675k avg, Brooks 550, Matulino 475, Nofa 450, McQueen 400.
You would think rumours Lolohea 400, Packer 500, Guerra 430.

When you look at a squad of 30 and a cap of 9.2m + 600k TPA allowances 9.8m / 30 means the average player is 326k. You would have at least 5 minimum wage players on the roster at 150k then you have 25 players / 9.050m or 362k each.

Basically the question you need answered is Mcqueeen, Matulino Lolohea etc better than the average? I say Cleary is spot on as there are no players that stick out as grossly overpaid.
When you look at the cap a basic first grade player is worth circa 350k.

Good post, especially breaking down the min crica 350k. Puts it into perspective in relation to the cap.

Just for a little human perspective, the average weekly wage in Australia is $78,832 so the good players are making 10x the average. Even the minimum wage players are making pretty decent freight compared to the average fan.
