the dogs and the storm lost a competition , so why isnt saints in the same boat ….the farce with gasnier makes it even more obvious that the game is a rort... sign him on 50 k to fit him in and he retires a year later .....another reason they dont get my membership hard earned.....

I'm not 100% sure, but I dont think it is that simple for the Dragons… As his deal was backloaded, I think the NRL work out the average price of his deal over the period he has played, and now load any unders into next years cap...

It cant be that simple for them to just have him walk away...

Its no different to any other player leaving whilst under contract. He will only be paid for the time that he was there and during that time he receives a contract that was above minimum requirement

o yes it is sabre ….a test centre comes onboard for 50 k on a backloaded contract and he walks a year later..if a player is on say 400 k a year then its different cause if he leaves early the contract is terminated ....
saints should be made to play out the contract...its a rort by any standard ......

Gasnier chose to leave and miss out on his pay doesnt matter if he is a test player or not

yeah, they wouldnt have to pay out his contract, but I do believe they have a pro-rata system to calculate how much should be included in the Salary Cap…

Why would the NRL look at the Saints No real huge names and some of the players they bought weren't supertsars(Soward) when they were bought . We are more likely to be over the cap than them imo

No reason to, they have not spent more than their cap. More likely as a result of Gasnier leaving St. George now have money under the salary cap to spend.
