Why do we have the worst 2 players in the NRL

Lovett has a go. Least he has that going for him. Milone is a statue.

You obviously didn't see Lovett's attempted tackle on Mannah for the 1st try of the game…do you call that 'having a go'? Yikes. In a perfect world he would have been dragged from the field at that instant.

Look at his workrate. That's what i consider having a go.

I agree he may not be quite up to the class of NRL at this stage but to say a bloke who makes 40+ tackles and 100 meters in an NRL game at 22 isn't having a go is both disrespectful and idiotic

My post referred to the pathetic attempt on Mannah to flat-out gift a try to him, granted he probably wouldn't have stopped him from scoring but his attempt was just embarrassing for a first grader. He may or may not have performed well after that but that initial effort in the 3rd minute of the game was horrendous.

Richards was once a very good player, but now well past his best.

The likes of Lovett and Santi are awful.

Patty has had many years of top level Rugby League under his belt,in different countries, and has stood tall ….

Lovett and Santi havent had much first grade experience at all ....in time they may become much better, however they are only just starting in the NRL...I give them credit for trying,if that was their best.then at least they tried...wether good or bad.remember we dont have a great deal of top shelf depth to chose from.... :frowning:

throw santi, milone, hoeter and galloway into the mix with lovett and richards and thats half a dozen who would struggle to make other sides state cup teams.

I was being kind. Add Buchanan, Drinkwater and Naiqama to the list as well. More detriment than good, some by a long way.

Naiqama is gun.
What :S

You've got to be joking. He may be the only half decent outside back besides Tedesco who was playing for us the other night but his defence is abysmal. Kick to his wing and contest it and the opposition wil win 99% of the time. He made an error and conceded two tries without even going up for the ball the times they kicked to him and contested. And this is the EELS of all teams.

Naiqama is a difficult one to judge isn't he. He has ability when he has the ball. He can definitely score a try. He also looks like he can tackle. The problem is under the high ball he is terrible.

I think you persist with him and work on that aspect of his game. I also think it might be better to play Nofo on the wing and Naiqama in the centres.

This is a terrible thread! You do realize that there are 17 other teams in the comp with bad players too! How you say these two are the worst is a joke. This forum is a joke at times with some of the terrible dribble that people call opinions. Go through every team and all their roster and come back to me if you believe these two are still the work set two players in the nrl?!

I think every team in the comp has a mix of stars, average players and up and comers.

As others have alluded to here and in other threads, our problem is the mix. The halves for example, we should have one rookie in there and one old head to bring them along.

Based on current form we have three better than average players in the squad - Taupau, Woods and Tedesco.

From there we have a huge array of 'average', and in many cases under performing, players who were signed by the previous coach/admin - Galloway, Richards, Halatau, Lawrence etc. All of these guys are getting on and thus are slower and less effective than they were 5-10 years ago (when they all debuted and impressed).

The youngsters are going to be inconsistent because, just like the example of the halves, they aren't getting much support from the 'NRL players' they have with them.

I don't see anything in the core group of youngsters to say any of them won't make it, but I do think there's some talent there - especially Lovett, Sironen, Sue, Moses, Lodge, Brooks and Cherrington.

Only time will tell, what we need to do is try and get some more quality around them to let them grow naturally, rather than in isolation.
