Why doesn't NSW get NYC/NSW Cup FTA

In Brisbane for work at the moment, and the QLD people get some of the QRL games before the 4:00pm Sunday game at 2:00pm. Why is it that we have to put up with rubbish on Nine in Sydney when we could be watching quality football??

Nrl evolved from nsw cup and now nsw cup is out of the spotlight in terms of spectacle and significance

Qld cup is an established quality comp not heavily impacted by nrl

Nyc will never be fta

That's about the crux of it. NSW Cup is not comparable to the quality of QLD Cup.

I really don't think it has anything to do with the quality of the two competitions. More to do with interest on the part of FTA viewers. Bananabenders will watch anything with the word "Queensland" in the title, NSW FTA wouldn't get enough viewers to watch reserve grade. More seriously, as a regional competition, the QRL is a more attractive product. If it was an all Brisbane comp I doubt Ch 9 would bother.

Put it this way - if nine thought there was enough interest in showing Newtown v Windsor, they'd do it.

But consider why Yoss. I watch the odd NSW Cup game on Fox when there's nothing on, and I know why FTA networks don't put their hands up for it.

lol

So do I !!!

You think people outside of Qld are keen to watch the QRL on FTA? I saw a bit of Wynnum v Redcliffe the other day. It's hardly must see TV.

You get what u PAY for

Pay tv = 8 games (incl 5 live) a week in hd plus toyota cup nrl shows, replays and a nsw cup game

FTA = 3 channel 9 games with ads. One live. Two footy shows on 9 and one on onehd

Until nyc is replaced with a national reserve grade comp then nsw or qld cup will never be in the spotlight
