Priority #1- get an organiser and decision maker out there. Brooks isnt it. We need an organising 7.

Priority #2- ***a ball playing lock. I'd even try Liddle at lock*** and put Simpkins at 9.

Not particularly having a dig at you 2005, but Im sick of seeing this. Because it worked for 15 minutes last year and because of Watson/Radley we all need a small "ball playing lock".

Have you guys seen how many breaks are made through the middle third against us. The last thing we need is one less big guy on the field.

Mate Im with you we need to shore up the middle, get go forward, get the ball to speedy backs and start defending as it should be,not half hearted attempts ..

Recruitment needs to really understand their job and the game...no more soft touches as in previous years including this year...

Wasn’t so long ago people were singing the praises of Hartigan and Maguire when it came to recruitment

Its the young blokes we have recruited that are our future and they get full marks for that.It will take time for them to mature but its no surprise that out lower grades are looking far healthier

Hope you are right I do think that maybe 40-50% will make it but believe we need to balance this with good experienced player’s

That is true,if we get 1 in 3 to FG standard we have done well. The thing is you have to get the production cycle working and that is something we have neglected for at least 8 years

The rebuild is under way it has been for two years. It’s a long road ahead. Don’t fall for the club talk it’s all to keep fans turning up with hope. We have no hope we are not a finals team and won’t be for 2-3 years. It pains me the club won’t admit this as the fans deserve better.

I am in shock today Tommy recruited me to play for the Magpies in 97 from the Dragons and my old man wouldn’t let me play footy as I went to university that year. The meeting was 14 beers at a pub and I went to school toasted the next morning.

I’m disappointed for the legend that is Tommy Raudonikis we couldn’t show some heart. I’m straight out disgusted.

I know people at the club are hurting and I post usually positive things I know they are doing but we are cactus in the short term. Just accept it and life’s easier. Today’s hard for a lot of magpies due to Tommy’s passing. We expected a celebration but alas we are what we are that’s a very average footy team. Life goes on.

Nope, sorry. Not falling for that, were not gonna be a finals team in 2 - 3 years. Just not happening.

I personally think the cattle are there to be a competitive side; I don't think it's that bad a roster. I look over at St George, I don't think they are much better, but the coach has them going and the players themselves are digging in.

I can't decide if it's the players or the coach with Tigers, which one needs to change. I mean you can punt Madge if you please, but that will be 5 coaches in a row failing to make finals; it can't simply be the coach, that's too easy a scapegoat.

Not even a track wreck. Would we crash in Campbellown, Balmain, Parra, Homebush, Tam bloody worth? Nah, better we just keep chugging along.

All aboard

I’ll agree it looks grim but there are some nice players in this squad, NSW Cup and the juniors. We have flaws centres, wingers, backrow that any team with a game plan will expose and flog us. It’s that bad on the edges teams aren’t even trying to win a forward battle anymore. Souths could score 100 next week unless Madge makes some drastic changes .

I never thought I’d see the day when the forwards were the least of Our problems.

I think going forward we have learnt a few lessons.
1. We can't offer players retirement deals, they'll just take advantage of us. Only give players offers if they have something to play for.
2. No 50/50 players. Roberts, Leilua etc. We just aren't a club that will get the good 50% chance from them. Tough pill to swallow but its true.
3. Play hard working players who actually give a toss. What I'd do to have Corey Thomson in the side right now

We're midway through yet another rebuild at the moment.

This time were dead wooding players that were purchased as a "Hail Mary" quick fix by previous coach.

These guys are youngsters that will come good.

This our only choice, otherwise were back paying overs for has beens...

**Hold your nerve guys, 2021 was always gonna be messy**

which players are we trying to build around cause i still see the same old players as last year except he bought another 3 older players in to the team and guys like BJ are getting spots over young centres

the team isnt rebuilding at all it retooled it got rid of players so we can bring other older talent in who just arent any good even when they played at other clubs

Lol rebuild. What’s the point. We rebuild every year, doesn’t help. And what are we actually rebuilding?

Sorry I've lost count which rebuild we are upto. Season over.

the mcguire rebuild
which hes slowly started doing the 1st thing of taking away all the bad contracts while signing up young players
now he needs to try to devlop them to reach there full potential

Yes try to develop them the trouble is that’s Maguire’s trouble can’t develop can’t motivate can’t get them playing good football

thats normal for a rebuilding team ur gonna get a lot of years when ur on the bottom
honestly the younger guys aren't doing that bad stefano been good and so has laurie

I think we all need to remember that we started to recruit younger and more committed talent back in 2019 and then unfortunately COVID hit so some of this talent missed a year and only is now getting good experience at Jersey Flegg level but still not yet ready for NRL mostly. Yes the other clubs had the same issue but they had better players to cover such an event so our rebuild is there but most likely as one piece of the puzzle 1-2 years away from fruition.

The frustrating thing is that the problems our NRL side seems to have with catching, speed, defence & most importantly commitment do not appear to be AS prevalent with the younger ones. If stats were truly being analysed, you'd be tempted to go "They're not ready but they have the basics" including drive and a will to win and give 110% so let's get more in there than we normally would.

It's a difficult situation - youth was part of the rebuild but we don't seem to have the players with the right experience & attitude to help bring them through. Mind you, I am very impressed with JF's Lambkins as a coach. He did well with a new side in 2019 and he has got 2021 off to a reasonable start albeit with a disappointing draw on Sunday. Hearing about his tactics and style, this will certainly help fill this void.

The first grade player who has the right never say die approach & talent is Dane Laurie and unfortunately this is his first year of NRL.

Having spoken to a former Cowboys exec on the weekend, I would find it hard to believe Tamou is here for his retirement so not sure what is happening there. For some reason he got next to no time and yet he would be just the sort of player we need to nuture the young ones.

"Hail Mary" recruits who are either just chewing up Top 30 spots and/or the cap just don't seem to be working and yet we seem to keep making the same mistakes over and over but perhaps just not on as just bigger money like we used to a few years ago.

I don't agree with talent being more important than hunger for success particularly when not driven by money as motivation. Throw in a few who realise it's not about the money and that if good enough that will come later, this is exactly what we need as a starting point to get out of this mess.

Where do you start? Potentially ruins good players.

Honestly I would play Cini to see if he is worth keeping. It is not like our current centres offer anything.

Hoffman could be a dark horse on the wing.
