Why I hate the McIntyre finals system

There is no perfect system, This one keeps you guessing and adds the odd twist as well.

Not a fan of any playoff system tbh.

After 26 rounds, we know who the best team is and we know who the worst team is. and we know all the teams that are inbetween.

The only logic I can see in applying any playoff system is if not all teams play each other twice.

Next you'll want us to use a round ball. lol

Why I wouldn't like the AFL system.
this week: Dragons vs Titans (1v4), would be a very tough game, 2 top 4 teams slugging it out. Say in the end the Titans get up, just. The Dragons will go on to play the Warriors who would smash the Sea Eagles (who are a rabble at the moment). The Dragons would be softened up and the Warriors would have a huge chance.

I think in a highly physical game like RL, 1 v 4 is not a big enough advantage for finishing first. Also, I don't think 5 v 8 is not a big enough obstacle for 8th to overcome. If team 8 want to go deep in the finals, they have to earn it. Parra last year beat 1, 2 and 3 on their way to the grand final, while the Warriors in 2008 finished 8th and beat 1 and 4 before being picked off by 2 (had they won they would've played 1/3).

The one thing i don't like about the McIntyre is that if you come 1st or 2nd and you lose in the first week, the following week the system dictates you play away to a team that won in the first week but finished down the ladder.

For instance St.George last year. They were far and away the best team but come across a hot Parra, they lost and got sent to Brisbane the next week. I think if you come 1st or 2nd you should keep the home advantage all the way through to the grand final.

That's a modification to the system that the NRL made. It can be argued either way though. I don't like the fact you can lose an opening finals game and still get a home final in the second week.

Intersting - i didn't realise that this method had been modified. Oh well, got to play the card you're delt.

if the tigers lose this weekend (which won't happen, but hypothetical), and st george win (which will happen)

our reward for finishing 3rd and playing team 6 at their home ground will be a trip to either Gold Coast, NZ, or Canberra in week 2 of the finals!!!

Wow ….does that mean win and get the week off if the Raiders towel the Panfers....

3rd hey ...

What an opportunity.....

imo we should be winning and getting a week off regardless of other results.

relying on other results going your way in a finals series is ridiculous

I don't expect any league official to implement anything remotely useful or logical so I wouldn't worry.
