Why is Preston Campbell never discussed for NSW Origin?

The guy is and always has been a fantastic player but to date he's only made three appearances for country origin. Surely it couldn't just be his size?

It's weird because with the exception of the Chargers (in his rookie year) every team he's played for has been successful.

Sharks '99-'02 they were great during this period
Panthers '03-'06 won a premiership
Titans '07-'10 came 3rd last year

And he is a Dally M winner.

He is in my team this year by the way.

1\. Josh Dugan
2\. Brett Morris
3\. Chris Lawrence
4\. Michael Jennings
5\. Jarryd Hayne
6\. Preston Campbell
7\. Brett Kimmorley

is my first choice backline. Two Dally M winners in there. Dugan is something out of this world. Lawrence and Morris will combine amazingly well and Jennings and Hayne are individual freaks. That backline would worry everyone.

Everyone except the mighty maroons mate….9 times out of 10 we will eat that line up alive :wahoo:

Preston's been playing some good footy recently. He'd go well at No. 6 with Kimmorley at 7\. If they have to have Bird in the team, bench utility?

Can you name a NSW backline that would be more competitive? I think that despite QLD's being stronger, it matches up enough for the NSW forwards to be the difference, specifically the back row.

thats a veyr potent backline, would score many points.

But i agree, i think qld would rip that apart. Defensively it's veyr poor. Of all those players, i think lawrence is the best defender.

Morris, jennings, campbell next to each other. Inglis and lote wouldn't even have to run.

Defensive line like this then

fb - campbell

lw - morris

lc - dugan

rc - jennings

rw - hayne

fe - lawrence

i guess that would work.

morris and dugan defending next to each other? No way, again, eaten alive.

Unfortunately, whilst this would be awesome to see if we had 100% possession, i can't see how a backline with these in form players would possibly work. You need lyon and cooper, as much as i don't like them, to defend.

Dugan is pretty big and I haven't really noticed any glaring weakness in his defense. In fact in one on one situations I've seen him come up trumps.

But if I was to leave anybody out it would be Michael Jennings and in that case you can have Jamie Lyon in there instead and have him defending at LC and Dugan at RC.

Because if they picked preston that would mean the selectors were going against what they usually do and that is picking a player by past glory not current form..
