BROOKS IS THE TIGERS MAN, BUT HE NEEDS HELP

Wests Tigers halfback Luke Brooks has felt the blowtorch this week after picking up the unwanted record of having played 145 NRL matches across seven seasons for zero finals appearances.

But Tigers coach Michael Maguire is adamant Brooks will be the club’s long-term playmaker.

What Brooks is in desperate need of is some seasoned front-rowers, like James Tamou, to add a harder edge to the Tigers forward pack.

The Tigers need to sharpen the pencil to try and land Tamou’s signature.

Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe keeps banging on about how good the club’s new centre of excellence will be when its finished in 2022.

But a facility won’t win the Tigers a premiership. Just look at the Broncos and the ill-fated Clive Berghofer Centre.

The right people are what creates a winning club.

The dribble about Maguire losing the dressing room is nothing more than a few disgruntled players causing problems.

Maguire is part of the Tigers solution, not part of the problem

What Brooks needs is someone like Joey to teach him how to play halfback, how to lead a team around the park and to slap him around and harden him up because he's a deer in the headlights with no idea.

After last nights game we will be in more trouble if we sign up the big plodder Tamou. Too old and too slow. Big mistake doesn’t make any impact prefer Penrith bench forwards who were awesome last night against Broncos.

Fisher Harris is the leader of that pack. Has been all season.

Yep. Need to stay well clear of Tamou.

I’m hearing he’s going to Stains

A No-eyed Deer? Seriously though, we've got him for the now, so let's hope WT's just concentrate on making it work. Does anyone know if, in all this time he's been with us, has the club ever gone to the lengths of bringing in someone like Joey to coach him, or have they just held onto him with the expectation he'll simply improve and work out the finer points of half-play on his own?

Agreed. Tamou will set us back, I don't see the value for money there.

The worst thing about TAMOU is that he suits our previous criteria for signing "big name players past he's best and looking for a super annuation plan hopefully Madge and others can see this.Proctor whilst some may think he falls into the same class offers far more than Tamou.

Exactly, 100% the type of player we sign and end up regretting. No upside whatsoever, and hardly any upgrade on what we already have.

Any half back behind a good pack will look good, let's face, it is an old cliche'..When you have played grade for as long as he has, and haven't really been tempted by outside offers, tells you something..

This is Matty Johns take on Brooks

This week the tom-toms have started beating around Luke Brooks and his future at the Tigers. I don’t subscribe to the theory that it’s time for the Tigers to let Brooks go … not yet.

I’ll declare an interest, I’ve worked with Brooks on a couple of occasions and can see he has

what it takes to make the Tigers successful.

But his time has come. He needs to see himself as an experienced leader, and no longer a young player with potential.

He needs to stop allowing others to take seniority. He needs to stop simply parking himself on the left side, and take control of the whole football team.

I stand by Tamou, big body , rep experience and a great leader , we need size and experience, you cannot seriously think Tamou is a Packer

Could someone possibly share the article in the DT please?

It would be great if that happend and I would support Brooks to the hilt if that was the case. The trouble is I can't see it ever happening. I don't think Brooks has the personality or maturity to do what is needed.

Please be true

On Brooks, I'm not ready to give up on him yet. This year has been a shocker for him. However, up until this year he was our most consistent player. He's not a DCE or Cleary and if the coach can accept that and put the right players around him he can get back to his best.

He's got another 3 years on his contract so we have little option other than that, regardless if some supporters want to pay $600k for him to play for another club.

I'll have a different view if he is responsible for the complaints of training too hard and playing the wrong style though. No evidence to suggest it's him.

Honestly does anyone really think that Brooks all of a sudden will turn things around !
The horse has bolted people he has peaked and on the way down .. The team is in a very bad place moving into 2021 in regards to the halves or more to
the point lack of , unfortunately this topic will not go away but only intensify during 2021 and it will not end well !
