Why no signings past 2017

Does anyone know the reason there basically is no one signed past 2017..there must be a reason for the club just signing to that point ..any thoughts?

There are currently only 88 players contracted by all 16 Clubs in 2018…it then drops away even more dramatically after that..As an example the Broncos have only 1 Sam Thaiday..

My guess would be grubby player managers are advising their clients to hold off until the expected large increase in the Salary Cap for 2018...

The Club would also be re-structuring our Cap so as to avoid the mistakes of the past...long term deals... back-loading of contracts ..contracts in players favour etc etc...

Yep 2018 is going to be the start of hopefully a new era in NRL. Its bigger than just player contracts. Hopefully the admins will restructure the competition and make it make a hell of a lot more sense.

Most likely, but NRL regain control of the season schedule in 2018 :slight_smile:

Surely we can't afford a 3rd player with our cap problems? They'll have to backend one of them.
