Why Robbie Farah will always be the No.2 hooker behind Smith

Despite how good Farah is and has been, Smith is a class above. I'm sure the only ones who'd disagree would be Tigers fans

I can admit Cameron is the better of the two, Farah is the best fit for the Tigers but.

I would still choose Farah in form against Cameron in form.

People who say Smith wouldn't be as effective in our side are dreaming. Smith is an absolute champion who would kill it in any team. He works to make the players around him better.

Farah's weaknesses can be put down, IMHO, to how he post-Prince era affected him. He has sought to become a match winner with every play due to his perception that there is no one else to do it. Farah would be better to focus on how he can make players around him better. That's what disappoints me about the treatment of Miller.

That may be the case. However, Robbie could have done more. Smith has been far better at playing to the strengths of the kids around him.

Cronk was a very limited player when he first started at 7\. Smith made him better.

Farah never makes players better.

Robbie makes a very average playing roster look ok. The guys a magician.

Would we be where we are without Farah, NO, we can all agree there…

But where would we be if we had a 6 or 7 that assisted him and analysed the line with him.... well who knows...

Robbies biggest issue is that he has worked tirelessly to carry a manpower issue, and isnt the type to relinquish his grip on the team readily. If it was poker, he would be the guy all in on every hand, where as Smith can smuggle his wares onto the table when the opportunities present themself.

In my eyes it makes Robbie the better hooker being able to force his hand week after week, that said not choosing his moments better makes him second best on the international stage, with high calibre players coming out of his hoo har either side of him.

Pretty much every team Smith plays for wins. When players who play with Smith leave the club, they suddenly do not look anywhere near as good as they once did (See: Adam Blair), and when average players go and play with Smith they suddenly look very good (See: Todd Lowrie). Smith in my opinion is the best player in the game and I'd even rate him ahead of Lockyer. If he touches the ball 100 times in a game he will probably only have 1 or 2 bad touches.

I can not believe how one eyed some people are.

I love the Wests Tigers and Robbie Farah and have been watching the great game since 1977.

Cameron Smith is the best hooker I have ever seen and his record speaks for itself. He makes players around him better players. always makes the right decisions

Steve Walters is the second best hooker I have ever seen.

Farah and Ellis would be in my top ten hookers but not in the same class as Cameron Smith.

Where are we?

The last time we achieved anything was in 2005… Every other year, we have achieved nothing?!

I dont understand the point of your post… if you are trying say we havent achieved since Prince 2005, a recognised oraganiser in the halves, then I am pretty sure I mentioned so in my post. Otherwise you are saying that this season we have 2 wins off the back of another playmaker apart from Robbie directing, which in any other team would be the case, but we have Benji kicking like a warm turd and not being anywhere near stable. No, then your giving Miller the credit for organising in those wins? Enlighten me please. Our direction, that helped us hang with the Storm, come within 1 point of the Dragons, with the best part of 10 men out with injury, our rock is Robbie, thats it, not arguable. If we win without Benji tonight thats further to my cause.

Disagree, then explain, because I have no clue who you credit with keeping our rag tag bunch stuck together.

Further, if you need I can chase down the rankings of teams over the last "x" many yrs posted on this forum to prove we have done better than alot of teams with a recognised halves compliment (meaning 6 and 7). who do you think took up that slack? Benji alone? Seriously….

We got no points against Melbourne this year… We got no points against the Dragons this year... we won No Premierships in 2012; 2011; 2010; 2009; 2008; 2007 & 2006... We have achieved nothing this year.

2 games dont make a season [especially against Parra & Penrith]. Regardless who you think our Rock is, it has no creditabilty while the Tiger continue to not be there on the big day in October.

Robbie's career will be defined by SOO and Premierships Victories!

Ok Watto, lets take this back to the top… I was replying to the 5th post on this page (page 2 now) by Southerntiger (admittedly didnt quote it), in essence agreeing with Farah being 2nd best hooker, not based on input but decision making noting that Smith also has the week to week support of a better spine...

So Im lost as to your input, really am, not being clever.

If you are to rate hookers on club performance though, Farah has delivered as many premierships in the last decade as Smith has, one a piece. If you also take into consideration equal oportunity in SOO in Smiths first series, actually first 3 as hooker, he lost. Unfortunately SOO and Australian team selection are arbitrary panel selections so are unfair to make comparisons from. it is just unfortunate we cannot compare the two with the same levels of support play, would probably be a different Robbie having competent support for an extended period in the halves.

I think farah is every bit the player Smith is, statistically he is actually far better, they don't tell the whole story of course.
Smith is great at what he does, but does have a huge advantage in the fact that he has always played in great teams and has a sensational half back that arranges everything so well.
cronk was never limited as a half, he was mom in the Anzac test in 2005

If so, that would be unfair. A player can be a legend of his era and not get the premierships he deserves, due to the fact that it is a team game. Different if it was tennis or golf.
Wally Lewis is a case in point, widely acknowledged as one of the best we have seen but won zero premierships in the top grade…that hardly makes his career underwhelming.

You blokes have to be kidding.

Talk about one-eyed supporters. Farah is not even in the same class as smith.

He's talented no doubt and he's got a big heart but he's selfish and makes dumb decisions under pressure.

He's a good footballer but he's not a smart one. Smith is a genius and on a completely different level.
