Why the Farah hate campaign?

i've always believed it is more his defensive issues. not so much missed tackles and tackle count, which he performs quite strongly on a statistical perspective but more when he is isolated one-on-one he gets pushed back quite a bit and then QLD would get a very quick play-the-ball.

i don't see this as an issue however as it is nowadays quite rare (kennedy at the roosters being the only time that comes to mind and that was because he was playing quite injured) and lacked support from his outside men.

if they want to out-score QLD they need Robbie. if they want someone who gives away crucial penalties and then runs away from a fight (the media calls this 'tough') then they will pick Ennis.

I agree with boon , NSW is run by a bunch of baboons like Laurie Daley bob McArthy , and now Ricky Stuart all unintelligent boof heads, with no structure or direction in the way they organize the team .

I Think lots of people in league are threatened by his intelligence and find him odd because of his classy decorum .

Kimmorley really gave the Wests Tigers style of play a serve on the tele the other night when talking about Origin.

He was very very scathing.

The garden knome also tipped the Raiders to knock over the Tigers last week too and look how that turned out

Based on Kimmorleys Origin performances he is in no position to say somebody else shouldnt

I thought exactly this, when I read the post that Kimmorley had bagged Robbie.

Which is better, Robbie "being pushed back in one-on-one tackles" or Ennis missing heaps of tackles and getting high tackle counts by being third player in and flopping?

The funny part about that is , ennis doesnt even generally get high tackle counts. he usually misses about 5 or more and makes about 25 or less, even being the third man in. pretty bloody average for a first grade ..sorry.. "origin" hooker.

Not so sure there is an actual campaign against him. But he gets no favours from the media thats for sure. Unlike the queensland origin selection process , getting picked for the blues nowadays is alot like politics, u need an election campaign, in the nrl its in the form of newspaper articles and buffoon "experts" giving their opinions on tv.
robbie has one or 2 in the herald paper, but u really need a couple in the telegraph and a few on tv as well. ennis has these in abundance, ofcourse it has little to do with his ability as a player and very much to do with his ability to get chummy with the right people.
The blues selectors truely are clueless , they clearly listen to the media on selection issues, infact the coach and selectors are/were employed in the media themselves.
Put simply, robbie has no friends where it counts, that will keep him out of the blues team barring injuries to their favourites regardless of form. so while i dont think there is a "hate" campaign against robbie, he certainly lacks a "love" campaign for him.
i do also believe being a smart arse "leb" counts against him, but that doesnt mean he isnt the best damn hooker in nsw by a country mile.

Good points here BBG in relation to the influence of the media and Ennis being chummy with the 'right' people a good example of the 'halo effect' in my opinion as far as Ennis goes.

I for one hope he does get overlooked for SOO. Would rather have him fit and playing for the Tigers anyday.

As a Wests Tigers supporter, I can honestly say, he is easily the best hooker I have EVER seen.

EVER.

I agree.

And, the arguments against Robbie simply are not valid. The famous 'missed tackle that led to a try' the first time he played Origin went like this: a NSW player lost the ball, Israel Falou picked it up, Kurt Gidley had a good shot at tackling him and missed, he then ran between Robbie and another NSW player, each of whom thought the other was going to take him. Somehow, this has been turned into 'Robbie Farah missed a tackle'!

I can see how he is difficult to play with if you aren't used to him because of his skill level and the variety in his game - so pick Sauce, Heighno, Dwyer and Junior Junior (who combined with him very well) and the problem is solved. At SOO level players should be alert and adaptable anyway.

Does anyone remember that at about the five minute mark the first time he played SOO he broke out of dummy-half, drifted across field showing the ball and threw a perfect cut-out pass to Jared Hayne on the wing, who crossed in the corner. After about 20 replays the video ref ruled that Hayne had put his foot on the sideline on his way to the tryline. If allowed, that try at 0-0 could have changed the game. It was a classic piece of Robbie Farah.

NSW should build its side around him, not ask him to play as though he has half as much talent as he does.

Great post Paris. You are 100% correct. Farah topped the NSW tackle count in both games he played as well. The thing with Ennis is he is a pest, he pesters the media but the mefia love it because it gives them content. George Mimis his manager is also on very good terms with those who like a good feed.

Thanks Bug.

Today ABC online declares that Dean Young is firming as favourite for hooker. God help us. As someone on here said last year when he was picked for Australia - Young is barely a first grader, let alone SOO.

Today I watched the channel 9 delayed broadcast of the St George v Cowboys game and Rabbits warren talked Young up it was sickening and I said to the person I was watching the game with that I wouldn't be surprised if there is a push to pick Young if Ennis is injured. It is a joke and I hope for Farah's sake that I am wrong.

It's really starting to look like he will never be picked for the blues again. if ennis, dean young and now ryan bloody hinchcliffe are considered better options than robbie, it has gone well beyond a joke.
Seems they are looking at everyone BUT farah for nsw hooker. It's a tragedy that a player this talented may finish his career with 2 origin games to his name because he isnt well liked. these idiots would rather cruel their chances of winning rather than pick him in the team.
first they said it was between farah and ennis. then ennis was injured so its between farah and young , then young is injured (i assume as he didnt play rep footy on the weekend) so its between farah and hinchcliffe. :wtf
this stinks to high heaven.

Definitely a media push against him.

Interestingly enough, do you think if the saints won the premiership before last year, that Young would have already be playing origin? He is the definition of a player playing out of position but for some reason he seems to be the favourite to play for the Blues? Then again, the Blues thrive on picking teams out of position…

I love nothing more than seeing wests tigers players represent but for too many years our players are snubbed. Australian team aswell before sheens got the gig.

I can only think that the "offensive" style the tigers play is what turns them off. In having said that the defensive style NSW have tried to employ has lead to 5 straight QLD series, so maybe give the likes of farah, heinington and big sauce a go.

If not i say to the selectors, stick it up your bum. If u you don't want our players I'm more than happy to see them play for the tigers and not miss any games for us!!

I more concerned about the mentality it will create by the players not getting picked and what issues it will cause . If players think that by playing at a particular club means they can't make Origin or Test sides they are less likely to want to come here .Make sense doesn't it .

I , too, have been totally perplexed as why they keep overlooking Farah.
And I don't hold much hope that Stuart will want him in the side knowing what style he likes to play.
Stuart prefers a boring , low mistake rate , defensive type game plan and I reckon he will want Young.

Yeah but Stuart and the selectors can't be that stupid . You aren't going to out defend Qld NSW are going to need to score 18 + if every game or they will lose(Even that may not be enough) . You need someone who is good defensively and can create something out of nothing . Ennis can't do that . Young can't do that. Farah can .If they don't pick Farah and Soward if he is fit , NSW fans should be screaming for Stuart and the selectors heads on a platter . I'm a Qlder but want to see a memorable series , not memorable for another Qld maroonwash .
