Why the lack of confidence in Moltzen in 2011?

Tim was in great form last year when he suffered the injury. He is the best player in the club at 'reading' Benji, therefore he is suited to either half, centre or fullback.

Looks like he's about to be a halfback again, if Rob Lui is out.

agree, well said

To answer the question in the title…
I think it has something to do with him missing most of last year.
Simply put.

He isn't a better half than Lui.

Tim is a very good player. Like him a lot, pity injury slowed him last year. He hasn't got back to his best this year but hopefully he will soon.

I know a lot of people like Tim in the #7 but I for one think Lui is a better player. I coped a lot of flack before but I will say it again in my 30 plus years of watching Balmain/Wests Tigers Lui is the best young half prospect I have seen at our club.

Moltzen will get his chance now Lui is injuried and I for one hope he plays great. I still however see Lui and Marshall as our long term halves pairing.

Plain and simple answer to this: he is recovering from an ACL injury which has hampered his career by a good season. He will be underdone and to compound his obvious deficiencies in defence, that makes for a dangerous mix for some suggestions that he be placed in the centres or in the #1 jersey.

He will most definitely be at home in the #7 this weekend if Lui is injured, and that is where he should be if he is to play.

I believe he is, i guess time will tell.

I think the number 17 is perfect for Moltz until his form warrants otherwise.

unfortunately, i don't think he's going to show us 'magic' by playing 20 mins a game. he needs 60+ minutes atleast… i guess playing in the centres this week he'll get the full 80... will be interesting to see how he pulls up.

Both Moltzen and Lui are class players.

Lui should be our starting half back.

Moltzen has the ability to play anywhere in the back line.

Lets see how Marshall and Moltzen work with Moltzen at centre.

Great headache for any coach to have. Two quality players fighting for the one position.
