We have wifi at home with a gym set up in the garage about 20m from the house
We have a TV in the garage we can hotspot on my phone but when I'm at work the missus iPhone won't play YouTube on the TV and she cannot zumba
Is a wifi extender the way to go... Where would I put this.... Is there another option?
Thanks for reading

We used a Google Nest (3 nests), which you can have in different locations. We could not get decent wifi in certain locations and after we installed this no problems at all. So one nest would stay near your wifi router and the other two where ever you like.

I've not had much luck with standard extenders (I found they throttled the speed too much) but i've heard good things about mesh systems like Google wi-fi and the Netgear Orbi. Haven't used them myself though.

Netgear Orbi is the go!

I had similar issues and picked up a set of these to try out a mesh system - https://www.amazon.com.au/TENDA-NOVA-MW3-3-Pack-Coverage/dp/B07D9CC637/

They've been running solid since July without a dropout and were dead easy to set up. Can't see what the other sets at 3 or 4 times the price could do better to justify the price tbh

What sort of money do the cheapest mesh setups come in at?
I don't actually need one at the moment but most of the ones I have seen advertised around the place look like they are pretty expensive.

Okay, assuming you can cast to the tv via chromecast or Apple TV, a wifi extender is a cheap option to try and if it doesn’t work you can try the more expensive mesh systems... the main consideration is the placement of the extender...it needs to be close to your wifi router to pickup a decent signal and close to area where your TV is in the garage.....so it can deliver a decent signal to your TV

Thanks guys... A lot of these options look pretty expensive.
Not sure what cast to the tv means, but it works in the hotspot on my Samsung S10 out in the garage but won't work with the Mrs I-phone.... And she's the only one wants to use the damn garage TV for YouTube zumba... I'm happy to whack MMM on when I do a workout.
We have a laundry at the back of the house about 10m from the garage and 10m from the wifi router... Thing is it's an old double brick wall house which I'm guessing don't help.
If these extenders slow wifi speeds down we only need it when she wants to zumba so is it something she can just plug in when she wants to use it?

They don’t slow speeds that much if any, I run some ultra HD cctv systems through them when I can’t get to a customers modem easily. TP link make some under $100 and are easy to set up.

Sounds like you have a SMART TV in the garage that supports WIFI connectivity and its connecting to the Internet via the Samsung S10 phone. If you install a wifi extender 10M from the router and the TV is a further 10M from the wifi extender that should work okay. Here is a wifi extender you can consider $54 from Officeworks. Once you install it simply go to the Smart TV and connect it to the WIFI extender name and it will have internet access

This is pretty good advice, just did the same thing for the tv in my brother's shed. Plus added a google chromecast as well.

We have a small window near the router I tried putting it up on the window ledge with window open... You can see the garage door... Didn't work

Hey mate.
Have you thought about those little mobile hotspot modems? They just need a PowerPoint. I think about $70 from officeworks and you can add as much data as you like to them, when you want. Your missus can just use this everytime she's in the gym and save the data.

The TV at my brothers wasn't a smart TV, so I added chromecast twice is a device by Google that allows you to access all the apps that an smart TV can.

Cheaper than I thought.
