The story makes no sense, says it is 5 year deal with Vegas, but then the quotes are used to claim otherwise.

I think what it should be saying is that there will still be Vegas games as per the contract, but just the same number of teams, and then other teams will play elsewhere like Japan and the Middle East over a Vegas expansion.

Simply put, PVL is just taking more games away from Australia and New Zealand, and starting to spread the game elsewhere while taking games away from the place that made the game. Whereas it should either be a preseason set of games, or an additional round so that those who pay for their season tickets are not left with less games to actually see without having to fork out even more to have to travel the world to see their teams. I know that the NFL are doing it, but the NRL isn't the biggest sport in the world like the NFL (based on team values in which more NFL teams rate highly than any other sport)
 
Personally I am in 2 minds when it comes to going to Vegas to watch a tigers game.
Vegas has always been on my bucket list, so I dont think I want to spend all the money to watch a club game and share Vegas with a bunch of Aussies, when going to Vegas is so expensive. BTW I packed Leichhardt or Campbelltown oval would do me as well.

vegas is better when aussies are not all over the place and Fremont st (old vegas) is not full of rugby league fans and nrl360 production.
So much to do in vegas NHL NFL Casinos, all the shows at the casinos, mob museum, Grand Canyon, the rufle Ranges, drive to LA

Japan on the other hand with nrl thrown in would be awesome

I will prefer Japan without too many Aussies as well. There will be Aussies all over the place there if NRL was there

The incentive for PVL comes from his background in horse racing and gambling. His direction to expand the game into the U.S. market is built on the back of punters and dribblers.

If he really wants to grow the game internationally, Japan, France, Croatia, and Greece should be the focus. All four destinations are much better holidays / junkets than Vegas.

the sportsbook in usa pay a fee based on turnover e.g. if they want to put a book up for nba then they pay nba etc nhl and so on.
it used to be 3% of turnover e.g. a turnover tax what PVL wanted bookmakers to pay here in australia.

the turnover is very good for nrl if they can keep increasing that

Sure, but I’d prefer to hang out on the Aegean Sea if I had to spend good money on a good footy holiday.

Europe is the future for the NRL, not the US.
