Will your view of our season

be based purely on how deep into the finals we go? Or are you satisfied that, anything above making the top 8, is a bonus?

For mine, making the 8 (for us, anyway) should be a "given" - what we are truly made of, will start on Saturday at 6:30PM - but boy, how I wish we were playing at Leichhardt!!!

Based on previous years, this year has been a success….even though last years defense was strangely better than this years.
Ive enjoyed it immensely, though frustrated that we still seem nowhere near the potential I can see in the team, and I fear the season wont run long enough for us to produce it onfield...but if we keep winning - meh.

Looking at the teams in the eight, we should really be right in it for at least a couple of weeks....though imo if we get to the GF i reckon tomorrows game will be our tioughest along that route.

As long as we win at least 1 finals game, I'll be happy…...I wouldn't want to bow out with no wins, especially since we finished 3rd.

Ironic what is judged as a succesful season….Is the only truely successful season a Premiership?...I mean who remembers who finised 3th in 2002...

How do you judge what is successful..

Is it making the 8?
Is it improving you position on previous years?
Or is it how you have built with an eye on the future even if you failed to make the 8 or do nothing once you get there ala the St George Illawarra Dragons in '09?

Wests Tigers are having their best season in 4 years but the job is far from over...I believe Sheens has them ready to give the finals a huge shake....

Judgement will come the first week in October for mine...

This year has been a success! We've had more injuries than most clubs (i think 3rd highest… please correct me if i am wrong someone) and still finished the season 3rd! That is a real testiment to the coaching staff and the recruitment drive for this season imo. Well done to all involved! We've churned away through 5 halves!

While I will be disappointed should we not win the comp (i know... i don't ask for much lol), I certainly won't be disappointed in the attitude shown by the side this season and definitely not in the club!

IMO we've got nothing to loose going into the finals series... and everything to win! CARN TIGERS!!! YEAR OF THE TIGER!!!! 2 PREMIERSHIPS IN 5 YEARS!!! WITHOUT CHEATING!!!! COMEON!

ARRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH CAPPPSSSS LOOOCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK

You need luck with injuries, ref's calls and the bounce of the ball.

Even if we go down, as long as all the boys go down swinging to the very end, that'll do me.

Two of the best things I heard:

1\. We have nothing to lose
2\. 2 premierships in 5 years WITHOUT CHEATING!!!

If that doesn't get someone pumped up, idk what does!!!
Bring on the Rorters!!!!

In a way what happens in this finals, whilst important, is not part of the bigger picture i want the club to become part of. Just like winning in 05, to then miss the finals the next 4 seasons was really dissapointing. I want the club to become something that becomes a regular finals contributer on a consistant basis. if they can do that then they'll always be a shot of winning the big one which is what you want.

So to answer that question. No, the success or failure of this finals campaign will not impact my view of our season. For me it's all about building and consolidating.

With the side we have I expected us to make the 8.

To have as many injuries as we have had and still come 3rd is a sucessful year for mine. We have unearthed some talent along the way which is also gratifiying. I would like to see us play into the third week at least for it to be complete.

Who had the highest and second highest injury toll and how many players did they have out compared to us?

Ummmm Cowboys and someone else had the same amount for equal first… they had 32, we had 30....

There'll always be bits and pieces that rankle but coming third with the injuries we've had this is definitely a successful season.
And it's not over yet!
GO THE TIGES!!

gee i know its been done to death ,, but leichhardt oval should have been the venue …..i still cant believe we would give up such an advantage ....it tells me we are told what we do ....penrith will get around the 20 k,st ill will pack chokie with 18 k...and the nrl will bank an extra million thanks to our beloved fans .......
ive known for a while the game is a rort , and decisions like this only confirm it for me ......some say good teams will win wherever they play, and i do think we have the roosters covered ,but why have a home ground if it cannot be used to your advantage ,,,maybe in the future we will have every team playing out of a handfull of grounds .. is that what they want .......

first step was to make the finals.
thankfully this has been achieved.
so far its been a good season. who am I kidding its been great.
done well to get by without a permanent halves combo.
young talent coming up through the ranks, seasoned veterans helping out. :master:

as for the finals, not going to get carried away.
yes am excited, and wary that it could all turn bad.
just gonna sit back and enjoy the ride.
still have to play smart footy to win the games, just getting to the finals, does not mean you will win, your next/any of the games.

i think i read somewhere we are the first team in NRL history to make the top 4 with more than 30 players. I think after round 26 it was 31\. Cowboys and sharks played 32\. Not a bad effort considering where they finished.

Based on results, memberships and bums on seats it been a very good year even if it goes pears shape over the next week or so.
Sheens has got them playing consistently something they have not been able to achieve in the past. For me I still think in the majority of games they never played anywhere near the level they are capable of but maybe we will see that in the weeks to come.

Considering the only finals experience we've had has been the perfect one, anything other than that is going to be hard to take. At least Dragons fans are used to choking by now!!!

As Pete said, all I want is a consistent team. Making the finals a few years in a row would be nice. Let's put the Broncos record to the test!

I actually think we have overachieved this year when you look at our squad, a lot of players have not lived up to their hype or potential and we have carried a few for most of the season that weren't quite up to NRL standard, sheens has done a good job there, I only wish he was a bit more adventurous with his selection policy some times and blood some youth during the season instead of resurrecting tired old names, but with that said, the club and the players have done very well to get to this position and anything can happen from here on in … your only as good as your last game .....
