William Kei

Nah mate, Sione Fainu.

From what I can gather, Kei was unwanted by the club and was told his services weren't required any longer.

He's still in the Top 30 and is therefore being paid the remainder of his contract (finishes end of this year) but isn't training with us anymore and is playing for Western Suburbs Reserve Grade (Ron Massey Cup).
Probably not a big contract aye...

Wouldn't know but yeah, doubt it.
Be under his top 30 contract in place until the end of the year - where is playing is because he’s rubbish and has zero contribution and no future in the game…

If you can’t nab a wing spot for the spooners in reserve grade - you aren’t kicking on

Another wasted development deal into top 30 contract

That is true but every club will have many of those,as i am sure you know from experience many young players look like they could be future internationals but sadly few make it.

I know….
But most teams are using those deals (there’s only a limited amount allowed) for guys that are a bit older and make first grade here and there…. Some even using them to get guys from other clubs already played NRL…

We use them in kids with potential…
And have been fairly hit and miss with them

This is the issue.

We’ve got the players on these deals wrong in the recent past. I accept you won’t hit on all of them but we rarely hit on any.

It’s been better (McIntyre, Madden, Simpkin) but there’s also been Heath Gibbs, Kei, Hoffman and a few other nothings….
I believe the likes of Ky Rodwell were on Dev deals over at Parra, that’s where we should be aiming…
Blokes like the back rower from the Dragon (Boyling?) in ressies - full time for a year or 2, who knows what he could do.

Pretty much agree but if ever we were going to use them on our youth policy moving forward as touted, after Covid, there was never a better time to offer them to those coming through. I do get that they are hit and miss.

I'd be looking at Ogden, Hill at least for 2023.

I’m still out on Ogden, just doesn’t seem to have that next level in him…
