Willie Mason [Discussion]

Gibbs spits on a female cop and takes a swing at another while on the turps…. Named in the side and plays that week

Robert Lui gives his partner a caning, picked in the next possible game.

Todd Payten pisses on a War Memorial, defended to the hilt, named as the coach and mentor to our NYC squad.

Willie Mason pisses on a building, is a general loudmouth yob and the club wants to hear from fans? Give me a break.

If we are indeed not taking the option than please let it be a salary cap thing, even a sponsor thing. If it is based on what fans have complained about I have officially lost all faith in the front office.

Couldn't have said it better. If only some people who Willie bash would acknowledge players of ours that have carried on like peanuts at times in the past. I guess its different when we do it.

Sheens was just on Channel 9 also asked about Mason He refused to answer and seemed extremely annoyed that he was asked (my read he had specifically asked them not to ask about Mason )

alot of difference between first offenders and repeat offenders.

gibbs was the only repeat offender that stayed with the club.they obviously knew him well enough to give that chance.hasn't caused a drama since 2007.though i'm sure someone reckons they have dirt on him.

payten,i'm pretty sure they know him well enough to judge if he was worthy of another chance.

lui, saying he got a game straight away is a bit silly when his next game was the start of a new season,he had patched things up with his gf and i assume he went to counselling provided by the tigers.

mason on the other hand, while relatively small incidents, they are still a distraction that no club, sponsor or fan wants.
he has consistently shown bad judgement.
add the fact that we don't know him makes it perfectly reasonable to show some caution.
add that if he wants 2 years, makes it even tougher to commit to.

chalk and cheese to me.

After bagging mason this whole thread if I see golden blast our forwards for being soft I want him perma band from here lol. As for Tommy raudonikis call him soft. Ask Stuart fielden how soft willy is

Any word on how the meeting went today?

I have no issue with the way the clubs handled the Gibbs and Payten issues.

Major issues with the Lui issue but that is what it is.

I understand some caution. If it is a football department decision or a sponsor driven I can live with it.

If it is a board or fan swayed decision I think it is weak management

Got no idea at this stage NT. if we haven't officially announced today we haven't signed him then I'd assume we have. Cause if we haven't or defiantly aren't going to they would of said so.

FWIW Lui probably was a repeat offender
From the September 2010 article when he was arrested after the first mad monday assault

"Three of the charges relate to offences allegedly committed in May this year."

Looks like Mason is out but I wonder who else management is talking to, "We've made an enquiry about a number of players just to improve our front-row stock at this stage of the season," he said.

Gibbsy coming home 😛ray: 😛ray: 😛ray: 😛ray: 😛ray: 😛ray:

I'd like to think so Happy but I guess we both know the answer…....

i guess i didn't pay enough attention to the may date when it came out.
not sure if the club would of known about the may incident until september.

can a club sack a player without pay that is charged and not convicted of a crime?
we released him that allowed him to sign with the cowboys.

going off subject here, but was there any backlash when the cowboys signed him.i can't imagine it would have been accepted on this forum, just wondering what cowboy fans thought of it.

i agree with you on the fan issue.i just don't think it played a part.especially with sheens.
as far as ceo and board,i think they know the short memory fans have when you win games.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it has been the PAPERS saying stuff like "the Daliy Telegraph believes…." and "we understand that.....", but they have been unable to quote any one from either party, even an unnamed source.

Suddenly everyone gets all presumptuous about WT intentions from hearsay that the papers publish.

WT don't have to report anything if nothing has happened. They don't have to deny every rumour that is published too, otherwise they would be posting media releases every 5 minutes.

In saying that, that's not to say that they can't come out with a statement, but who knows where they stand at the moment as maybe they can't say anything yet.

**All I'm arguing is that it is grossly unfair to label this saga as "a shambles" as you/we really don't know the facts.\

My understanding is that a decision was made several days ago anyway, and that it was a simple two letter word.** _Posted using RoarFEED 2012_

Come on Kul , it's being played out on every media outlet with a "we're not sure" , "take the fans into consideration" and Sheens even dodging the bullet by passing the buck to Humphries to make some sort of announcement.
If it looks like a shambles and talks like a shambles…. it's a shambles.
If they did make a solid decision days ago why not just come out and say so? (and my info is they didn't)

I think you missed my sarcasm in the last part of my post.

Anyway. It doesn't look like a shambles to me at all.

Party A talks to Party B
An agreement is not reached after a discussion
Party A and Party B part ways

The rest of the hype is 100% media driven.
Maybe WT could have said something, but I just can't see how they can be subject to much criticism from fans here.

Everybody has been on about this for over 6 weeks - Party A has talked to Party B on more than a few occassions.
And anything involving Mason is media driven.
How hard is it for someone from the Tigers to say ANYTHING!
Yes, no ,still in discussions.
It's not too hard you wouldn't think!
