Willie mason ???

Tomorrow perhaps gun? Surely they are not basing their decision on the fans opinions? If they listen to the fans on this forum they would sign him, they are obviously reading the comments on the Daily Telegraph website!!!

On the mason and asking fans for their opinion deal, I honestly think that if they don't sign mason now we look like a bunch of pea hearts. You are chosen and paid to make the calls, so make it. This stinks of the clowns running the circus.

The club would be stupid to reneg on this deal especially with Ellis leaving. It was supposed to be announced today.

Wests Tigers do something stupid with regard to a player signing Nah No way

That lady who sent that tweet to NRL on fox about burning her membership because of mason should go ahead and do it anyway regardless. Fair-weather fans are the worst.

When did rugby league become a democracy? If sheens wants him then lets get him. He may not always be right but history has shown he has ended up on the right side of the ledger. The right decision is not always the popular decision.

We played Lui in 2011 after he belted his girlfriend in 2010\. There was no hysteria or membership burning done then.nor was there when our NYC coach disgraced himself in front of a national monument. But Mason's potential signature causes uproar. Selective memory much.?

JUST SIGN HIM ALREADY ffs i started this thread in DECEMBER its nearly april and still no resolution is it just me or does every signing we make these days just drag on for months ??? why is that ???
as for the people who are saying no he is a bad person well fair enough but he has done bugger all except for carry on like a peanut at times WHO CARES i hated him because he was a good player that played against us and always gave us cheek….
who the hell does that for us these days ? he will attract attention on the field and hopefully let these young props feel less pressure i mean if you were playin against us who would you target ? :crazy
its a win win if he plays well great signing WT If he plays like crap or cannot behave then we flick him and for god sake hope that we dont get anymore injuries and keep blooding the young bucks .
lets just say woods gets injured this week ..what the hell do we rely on then our NSW cup teams are getting smashed every week :bash :bash :bash :bash :bash
:wtf

yes hes a bad person but people are missing the point even if he was good. he has NOTHING left now he has not played good since 2004!! what do people seriously expect this guy to do?? he will be as good as Nick Graham was he will offer nothing!! he is not worth it at all

As has been mentioned before golden, I thought he did his job and more at the cowboys. He is not a marquee signing he is an experienced forward brought in to do a job. I have no doubt he will do that job, and hopefully more.

in 2004 or even 2006 I would have been all over this signing and so excited if we signed him back then even with the off field crap, he was one of the best forwards in the game, he has done ZERO for NSW however he did his knee in 08 I think and then played for 3 wooden spoon teams

and just so everyone knows his offield stuff its like a essay on why not to sign him for that alone let alone having nothing left

In 2002, Mason is reported to have run from a taxi to avoid paying the fare.

In 2003, he tested positive to an illicit social drug, reported to be an amphetamine, and was fined $25,000 by his club. Mason has never commented on the issue publicly.

In 2004, Mason along with Trent Waterhouse, Craig Wing, Craig Gower and Mark O'Meley, were fined for unprofessional behaviour and for leaving the team hotel after the side had returned from the night out.[32] Mason forged another player's signature at an autograph event, and after a heavy drinking session with team mates, reportedly visited a brothel.

At Sydney Airport in 2007, Mason verbally challenged a female reporter from radio station 2GB, resulting in a complaint from 2GB to the Bulldogs club and the ARL Mason later admitted to the outburst, which was captured on audio recordings, and apologised to 2GB journalist Michelle Keighran.[38] Mason is sponsored by sportswear manufacturer, Champion, which almost severed its contract with the controversial footballer as a result of the incident.

Also in 2007, Mason was involved in a nightclub altercation with the out-spoken Richie Williams, who Mason claimed shows no respect to the older players in the NRL and is a cocky kid who has yet to prove himself in the NRL.
Mason was voted the most hated player by a fans poll in 2007
In February 2008 Mason and his new Roosters team-mate Anthony Tupou were charged with urinating in a public place during a visit to Port Macquarie.
In May 2009 Mason was fined $2000 by Sydney Roosters after being photographed urinating in a public place

Golden, he played for the bulldogs, roosters and then the cowboys didn't he? ( forgive me my memory plays up on me sometimes). The bulldogs got the spoon because of salary cap issues ie they had all their points taken off them ( by the way they would've won that year). And the roosters were a basket case when he played for them. What was the third spoon team he played for I can't remember?

I don`t think we will sign him, so those of you who are against him won`t have to worry.
I just find it rediculous that people can hold these petty offenses against anyone?
I think people need to take a quick look in the mirror sometimes, I find it very hard to believe that anyone hasn`t done far worse things than what Willie Mason is still being ridiculed for?

He was right about Richie Williams… Where is he now? In any event Bryce Gibbs had his own list of indiscretions and nobody was calling for his head. Also you need to treat that positive drug test with caution - amphetamines in the context of the test that was carried out is a broad classification. It doesn't necessarily mean it is a "social" drug. Normally that's the reason but it is also present in a number of prescribed medications.

Don't get me wrong, I think the guy is a goose but at least he hasn't hit a woman. In the last 5 years he's taken a slash in public twice and that's it.

He played for the Cows. Not his fault they came last - he was pretty good up there. Surprised me actually.

he got the spoon for the cowgirls which was the last club he played for, dogs got the spoon in 08 but I think he was at the roosters that year so I think I am wrong on that one but when he left them they were a mess and as you seen got the spoon!

True Yoss. I remember hearing that he was diagnosed with ADHD. I can tell you from experience that there were two medications for people of our vintage. One of them was a methamphetamine.
