lui, saying he got a game straight away is a bit silly when his next game was the start of a new season,he had patched things up with his gf and i assume he went to counselling provided by the tigers.

FWIW Lui probably was a repeat offender
From the September 2010 article when he was arrested after the first mad monday assault

"Three of the charges relate to offences allegedly committed in May this year."

i guess i didn't pay enough attention to the may date when it came out.
not sure if the club would of known about the may incident until september.

can a club sack a player without pay that is charged and not convicted of a crime?
we released him that allowed him to sign with the cowboys.

going off subject here, but was there any backlash when the cowboys signed him.i can't imagine it would have been accepted on this forum, just wondering what cowboy fans thought of it.

I have no issue with the way the clubs handled the Gibbs and Payten issues.

Major issues with the Lui issue but that is what it is.

I understand some caution. If it is a football department decision or a sponsor driven I can live with it.

If it is a board or fan swayed decision I think it is weak management

i agree with you on the fan issue.i just don't think it played a part.especially with sheens.
as far as ceo and board,i think they know the short memory fans have when you win games.

So just to confirm.

People were ringing up about this and complaining but in the past we have kept folk of highly dubious moral character because they were already here?

Top work Wests Tigers

Think I might ring and see if something can be done about Matt Bells haircut….

Weren't they announcing an official yes/no today?

To be honest I don't think Tommy R or Blocker's comments in the media could have been good for anyone.

Yes, they just voiced their opinions, but having legends of the clubs say they don't want you isn't the right way to go about it in the media, they should just say "its in the hands of the club and they will come to the right decision" because from what I've seen it's pretty 50:50, look what Bellamy, Luke Burt and Cam Smith have said compared to Tommy and blocker. Put it this way - are we going to get what he has size-wise, experience wise and more than likely very cheap mid-season anywhere else? No.

Is this all a smokescreen, Tommy Ridiculous saying he doesn't want Big Willie at the club, a fan backlash, but 2 of 3 fans at a pub in Camperdown (The Alfred, not a NRL type pub) yesterday wanted Willie at the club.
For all the pros and cons, we sign the Unit on an incentive based contract and the rest is up to him, we get a lot of positive publicity, as the old timers say any publicity is good publicity, he's 32 now and he won't stuff up.
For crikey sake we need him more now than most people realise, our Rookie pack needs a hard head now!.

Unfortunately Leroy,

The whinging minority are the more vocal, and usually get their way.

On 9 news tonight they said that the Tigers were reconsidering their offer to mason. The senior players are in favour of signing mason. Chris Heighington said that he was a very good player.

Wests Tigers appear to have gone cold on signing Willie Mason with the club expected to announce on Thursday they have pulled out of the race to secure the former Test forward.

The Tigers were believed to be front-runners to secure the 31-year-old, who has been without a club since quitting French rugby union at the end of last season.

With experienced forwards Bryce Gibbs and Andrew Fifita leaving the club in the off-season, and prop Keith Galloway picking up a toe injury in round one, the Tigers are currently light on forward stocks.

Mason was seen as the ideal player to fill a few gaps in the club's roster but it would appear the deal is now off the table.

"I can't tell you anything at this stage, Stephen Humphreys will make a statement about it today, Sheens told reporters on Thursday morning.

"We're leaving it in his hands to do that."

Asked if the Tigers were keen on bringing the former Bulldogs, Roosters and Cowboys forward to the club as they battle a shortage in the front-row, Sheens said: "The club made an inquiry about a number of players just to improve out front-row stock at this stage of the season."

Tigers back-rower Chris Heighington believes Mason would fit in well at the club but is confident they have the forward strength even without the former representative star.

"We've got two really good props in (Aaron) Woods and (Matt) Groat coming through that are really good players," said Heighington, who will equal the club record for most games by a forward against the Raiders on Monday night.

"That's up to the club but in saying that Willie is a really good signing."

"He's a good player and he's done it at the top level."

the club is week if they dont sign him , we do not have the experience in the lower grades to compete in the NRL , he would be helpfull to our young guns sign him you week lot

Talk about ambiguous media reports - so are we signing him or not? No one seems to be able to make up their mind. Why does there always have to be such a big drama surrounding our signings. Like I said earlier in this thread, the season will be over before a decision is even made

Read the second last line by Rhino "thats up to the club but in saying that Willie is a really good signing"

Is Rhino getting tongue tied or has he just dropped an unexpected bomshell Maybe Sheensy and the boys are holding out ???
