Willie mason ???

Mason has officially secured a release from his French rugby contract… Look out nrl he's back!

Im sure that is how his manager sold it, He wasn't good enough at rugby to get past his initial clause that protects the club against poor transitions, of all the leaguies that have crossed recently he is the only one not to clear that hurdle, given he has ability, it was clearly a mental/attitude thing.

Either way it's good to have him back goose, hopefully it's for more then one season so wecan see him v SBW

I agree he is good for the game, personalty players are always interesting and good for the game. That said I dont think he would be a good influence at our club.

Definately worth the risk for other clubs tho

The Telecrap says the Tigers have no interest in big Willie, for once i hope they are right.

We'll probably announce his signing next week then :roll

Good for the game??? I normally agree with your comments, Goose, but not this time. Mason is a blight on the game, imo - he brings nothing but negative headlines.

I agree he is a total clown but I think his "crimes" get a bit overhyped. It's not like his bashed anyone or committed a crime. Unless I'm forgetting something obvious the worst thing he's done is taking a wizz when he was caught short one night. Hardly a hanging offence. My objection to signing him would be more that he's done stuff-all on the field for some time.

You're probably right, Yoss - I guess we'll never know what really went down at Coffs Harbour and whether Mason was involved, but he certainly acted like a tool about the whole affair. So maybe it is just a wizz in public, but I was thinking more about the dissent that he seems to bring everywhere he goes. Not to mention his loud mouth comments in the press every 5 minutes.

Don't get me wrong Flip - I wouldn't want the bloke anywhere near us. I agree that he has an attitude problem. He seemed a bit better up in FNQ but I think he is a big risk for the potential on field reward.

I hear ya, Yoss and totally agree.

The question you have to ask is, could he bring something to the club that would make us a stronger club.

I say no, he may generate a few extra bums on seat but from a football sense I think his day in the sun passed a few years ago. We need to give BMM and others the chance and not fall back on a faded star. Also I would not like to see him cash in on the platform set by the other players over the past few years. No leave the walking headline for another club
