i really dont think you have to be a good judge of football to realise Moltzen is not a good attacking fullback,we dont have a specialist fullback. i'd promote mullaney . now this guy can attack!!

I don't believe he's ready for FG just yet, not after yesterday. Cronulla were pretty ordinary but Mullaney was quiet in attack. I'd be bumping him up to State Cup to see how he goes there first.

Does anyone know if we had any injury concerns out of the trial?

Apparently Lui was limping with a sore foot but reckons he'll be right for round 1\. Benji had strapping on his ankle whilst helping the team with the warm up. No other publicised injuries to come out of it.

Good news, thanks willow.
Also loved your match report great work :master:

There is no doubt Mullaney is going to be a superstar but it doesn't seem like he's ready yet
we just have to wait till Lote turns up i suppose.I would stick with Brown till then

lote .brown ,daniella ,moltzen ha ha you pick the fullback.. it's beginning to be a joke,
better still, pick the half back, ha ha FAIR DINCUM !!!

Watch a youtube video footage of Benji at his best. It is when he is playing as a wide 5/8 or **inside centre** in the old money. The wider Benji is the more room he has to move. This has a two prong result as it makes the defence move up alot quicker with someone like him out wide and will often present itself as a staggered defensive line after a while.

Lui is a 5/8\. Does anyone here disagree with me on that? I may be robbing Peter to pay Paul but I think that Lui doesn't have enough time with the ball in his hands at 7 and he stuffs up.

Moltz I reakon is a halfback. If Moltz and Lui are 7 and 6 and can give quick and **regular** service to Benji we will carve up.

Having Lawrence at fullback was my other selection. What this does is it gives us the size that the Fonz obviously wants at fullback. It gives us the fastest player in the club chimming in up the middle as well. Just like when Mighty Mouse smoked everyone last year. Lawrence is faster.

Lotto can learn and adjust on Taniela's left wing and Beau Ryan can play on the right wing. Ayshford can play an old fashioned outside centre role.

I think it is worth a try. I think it will be a success because it will give Robert Lui more time with the ball in his hands as the defence moves up.

If you have Moltzen at 7 you can put a 5/8 on either side of the ruck with Moltzen deciding to switch play to the other 5/8 (being Marshall). Then all other player dont need to be ballplayers they can be metre eaters.

Whe the three prong attack in the halves and Robbie at dummy half the opposition would not know where to look first. They would be thinking "Which one will we watch" !!

I would try this in round one.

I see the logic in what you're saying BB, but does Sheens? He's got his mind pretty much made up I reckon, no amount of speculation from us (although while it offers good debate) will change his mind.

Thanks, as always, Willow. As mentioned before, I will be relying on your reports this year as there doesn't seem to be any way of getting NRL games in Paris. Even the 'Oz Bars' (theme bars, with crocodile decor and photos of Ausralian sportsmen) only screen Tests and the Grand Final (which the Tigers will be in!).

As for selections, I don't mind the idea of Chris Lawrence as a fullback, but he needed to get a run there in a trial and he didn't, so it doesn't look like Sheens has that in mind at all. For mine, the Moltzen/Marshall combination has proven itself and should be an automatic pick. That will leave us with a caretaker fullback until Lote is ready, which will be a while. I wouldn't object to the Fitz or Mullaney or Beau Ryan.

so you telling me geo that moltzen is a good attacking fullback? moltzen looks to timid at the back, always looking for his wingers to do his dirty work..

Gee I don't know….Maybe it's part of Sheens Gameplan....Given the options who would you rather bring the ball back...Tuiaki '09, Ryan (who more often than not breaks the first tackle) and then have your fullback, Moltzen ready for the next play cause he can do something with the ball....

That's all well and good but half the time he'd run 30 metres to find a winger by which time the chasing team were right on them. Every now and then it's a good option but every time gets annoying. Having said that I think he was doing an okay job back there and improving all the time - the obsession with linking with wingers was my only gripe.

That creates a liability defensively as we play our centres inside our halves defensively and as such you would have a defensive combination of either Lui/Marshall or Moltzen/Marshall and that throws out the balance of things and means you have one of your playmakers in a high workrate defensive slot

Picking the 1/2 back is easy it should be Moltzen from rd1 till the grand final

How about:

1: Marshall

6: Lui
7: Moltzen

Benji and Lui can interchange in attack but with Marshall defending at 1.

just a thought

We have potentially the best hooker in the game, the best 5/8th and the best centre in the game and you want to move two of them out of position so you can get a rookie Lui to 5/8th. Are you one of these punters bagging sheens every week? Does anyone remember Moltzens cover tackle on Minichello last year? He can play fullback. TL

It was great to win but I don't know what everyone is so excited about. I thought the sharks had nothing. BRET would of smashed them too. Best thing I got out of that game is they are coming off a win, hopefully it gives them some confidence and was at the very least more time to gel. But really I don't think we played brilliantly other than for the reason they were too easy.

Thanks again Willow your match reports are a great read because of the accuracey in them..All the speculation as to who will wear 1, 6 and 7 in the opening round is already locked in as far as the coach sees fit:
1\. Moltzen
6\. Marshall
7\. Lui.
If Lote is available he will wear 2, Ryan 5 and Fitzhenry…State cup
