Women's SOO - legitimate contender?

I only watched the second half, but I was very impressed with the quality of the game. Two of the NSW tries were great, especially the dummy kick followed by a cutout pass. It was better than some of the NRL games we have seen this year!

I have watched some of the internationals before and they have been good too. Not sure about the club games though.

Within the first 10 posts here we've had the women athletes of SOO labelled "pretty girls" and "lassies".

Really?

How demeaning of their talent and commitment?

Hmmmm....remind me to scream when I hear women calling the men "hot guys" and "fellas"

So sexist!

The QLD origin lasses showed more ticker than their male counterparts and still lost..

Go NSW,,..

I like watching em rip into each other..should be played over 3 games..

Good on the Women's SOO last night at North Sydney, getting 10,515 through the gate. Does this make the match a serious contender now within the annual program?

In contrast, only 10,021 rocked up to see Raiders defeat Sharks last Thursday and 9,973 for Warriors v Titans on the Friday. ~8K each turned up to Brookie and SCG on the Sunday. The Tigers and Penrith games were mid 11K.

It means the Women's SOO was the 5th-highest crowd of the last 9 games of rugby league played.

That statement shows just how poor the attendance really was. I don't think highlighting that stat does any good for the womens origin or its current overall appeal to the fans of the game at all. State vs State, PC feminism being drilled down everyone's throats for the last few years and the pinnacle of the womens game can only hit a crowd no better than the middle of the road weekly NRL game. North Sydney has capacity of 20,000? Half the seats unsold.

It was a boring game to watch and all round meh.

I'm pretty sure 10K+ for a women's match is actually quite high. They had 6,824 last year, so >50% increase. It's only the second official year of Women's Origin.

I really enjoyed the game and was thinking it was a great turnout. I did wonder though how many free tickets were given away?
But in saying that I thought the standard was really good. Skill levels are quickly increasing. Could be a better on and off field product than the men in a few years. No wrestle and crap in the women’s game

@Demps Agreed, looks can be deceiving lol.....but i also watched it...well, about 17 seconds until i went on to watching some Stupid kids show with my youngest brother and that kept me more entertained
